I've only included the albums I know and like in the poll. I'll leave the Avant Prog albums in the capable hands of you and Drew. Smile

Gabriel's masterpiece, but The Wedge is also excellent.

I think I have only heard about one-fourth of these in full at best. Of those, Talk Talk got my vote. Peter Gabriel would be second.

I voted for the clear leader here, Peter Gabriel. This was the year Genesis took over. They, PG, Steve Hackett with GTR, Rutherford with Mike + the Mechanics, and Phil Collins all hit the U.S. top ten in the same week (or at least over a two week span).

I had a feeling Peter Gabriel would win this poll - and So it proved. I doubt if my favourite albums will win any of these year-by-year prog polls, but I Don't Give Up hoping. Smile

Tangerine Dream's Underwater Sunlight, easily.

Runners-up: Pageant and Emerson, Lake & Powell.

The Quicksilver half of Tony Banks' Soundtracks is very good, too.

I would have voted for Shub-Niggurath too.
Some of the worst album of that year are listed (i.e. GTR)

My vote goes to Vangelis. I actually purchased the original vinyl during a journey in Greece together with Odes.

I'm guessing any fans of those 25 artists listed above will know which albums are coming up in tomorrow's poll, seeing as they're all albums released in 1987. Alright? Not 'arf!

You're off the hook Paul. Tribute didn't release an album that year. LOL  Deyss did though but maybe that's a good thing they aren't on the list. Tongue Also, I'm guessing that IQ is Nomzamo. Not one of their best probably but not too bad either. It should be interesting. I think I already know what I'll vote for though. ;)

Number of albums I've listened to in the poll now = 24 (all except Pageant)

Number of CD albums I currently own in the poll = None

Voted for..... Vangelis & Irene Papas

^ I would agree with that but I heard it many years later.  I went with ELPowell's creditable 'return' album.  I didn't really miss Palmer as I felt that Asia had taken something out of him - don't know what.  Even his work on 'Love Beach' surpasses anything he did with that lot.
