This was a poor year for me. Two of my favourite bands released possibly their worst ever albums (DT and Marillion).

I expect there are many great albums that I haven’t listened to of course😂

Given what I know you like, try out Circus Maximus: Isolate  it's superb and will be right up your street. 2007 was actually a pretty strong year for melodic Prog Metal, very little of which is mentioned here. I'll give you a list if you like, but check this first if you don't know it.. Smile

^^ well with respect, I thought you might, but I don't think 'Essex Boy' is as well versed as you and he might want to check them out.

Others I enjoyed that year would be:

Threshold: Dead Reckoning
Pagan's Mind: God's Equation
Suspyre: A Great Divide
Deadsoul Tribe: Lullaby
Pathosray: Pathosray
Amorphis: Silent Waters
Nightingale: White Darkness
Vanishing Point: Fourth Season
Poverty's No Crime: Save My Soul
Sun Caged: Artimisia
Dominici: O3 Tilogy Pt II
Pain Of Salvation: Scarsick
Voyager: UniVers

There are probably others too, but they've slipped my mind...

I’m certainly not contesting it either😂

Thanks for the recommendations, there’s plenty from Paul’s list that I don’t know either, I would probably start with Phideaux as that’s a band I feel I would probably like🤞

^ Birds and Buildings are a band I'd never heard of before, but their album "Bantam to Behemoth" is the top-rated PA album for 2008. so it'll be interesting to see if anyone votes for it. Ermm

As for my vote, with eight 5-star albums to choose from, it's probably going to be a default vote for Mostly Autumn again. Smile

Think Bantam to Behemoth is one of those albums that would be in a lot of people's Top 5 or 10 without being anyone's single favourite.

Neal Morse's best album but there are some other nice ones on the list I could have voted for.

Posted By: Hector Enrique

1. Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet (Probably the best work of Wilson's band)
.
.
.
2. Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement (Although it is not their best album, all the works of the Poles led by Duda are above 3.5 stars).
3. Fish - 13th Star (When it seemed that he didn't have much more to offer, the Scottish giant surprises with this very good work).
4. Galahad - Empires Never Last (The band's best album)
5. Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura (Spiritual Morse keeps the symphonic spirit of the genre alive with this great album).

Kind of a tossup for me between Gazpacho and Galahad here.  I think they each probably had their best albums in 2007.  I went with Empires Never Last. Not only is it Galahad's best album, its close to a classic Neo-prog album (IMHO). Some brilliant stuff on there!
