WOW! Looking to the Past, Present and Future, this is quite possibly the best solo poll line-up in the entire series! Rick Wakeman presents his Six Wives of Henry VIII, long before The Four Wives of Rick Wakeman became a reality, and Mike Oldfield makes his amazing debut to the sound of Tubular Bells. There's more that Two Sides of Peter Banks too, as you'll discover quick as a Flash when you delve deeply into his vast Empire of Prog. There's also two excellent solo debuts from ex-members of Procol Harum to look forward to. Sadly, there's a missing link for Gordon Giltrap's self-titled psychedelic album, but I'm hoping it'll appear on YouTube Any Day Now.  Still, there's always Pete Sinfield with his one and only solo album, and Duncan Browne is well-worth checking out too if you've never heard him before. It may have been Journey's End for some prog bands by the mid-1970's, but many solo prog artists were just getting started. Finally, if you're Still wondering if I'm a lad insane, I'll just say No, I'm a Bowie fan.  Tongue

I'll vote for Hammill. Quite a few nice ones in this list. The fiber told me it was comfortable but would like to have a meteorological commentator look for pieces of yarn sticking out.

Al Stewart's Past Present & Future is one of those often-overlooked gems of the Folk/Prog-Folk genre. I loved it when it came out and revisit it often. Roads To Moscow is a masterpiece. If you're not familiar with it, I recommend you give a spin.

This is maybe the only poll prediction I've ever got right, with Rick Wakeman and Mike Oldfield currently leading the poll. Thumbs Up

agreed although I have to vote for Rick's masterpeice (how this is not in PA's Top 30 albums let alone top 100 has long baffled me). Tubular Bells is inspired but I prefer the classical symphonic versions especially the one by Simon Dobson and the RPO that was put out last year. Seriously brilliant version.

Arguably the greatest year of all when it comes to solo albums. Four masterpieces in due order:

1. Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
2. Peter Hammill - Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night
3. John Cale - Paris 1919
4. John Martyn - Solid Air

I was undecided between Oldfield and Wakeman. I have chosen Oldfield.

A choice between The Six Wives and Tubular Bells - I'm most into the former, I guess.
