Which prog rock musician is born on the same day as you? It doesn't necessarily have to be the same year.

For me it's Peter Hammill

Oh, this thread's new! There was another thread about the same topic a while back. I don't know if it's still open. Anyway, I don't wish to reveal my birthday but will say that my birthday is also the same as someone from Van der Graaf Generator.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Peter Hammill is a particular favourite of mine.

I share the same birthday with John Cale who is in Prog Related at PA.

It looks like I've got Clive Burr and Anneke van Giersbergen. Non-prog are Micky Dolenz, Randy Meisner, and Gary Numan. That's about enough to form a band with.

Hi,

Goodness ... though "progressive" kinda doesn't fit, but almost all of these were folks that were a part of a new, and sometimes experimental and more advanced work.

Hoagy Carmichael (1899) ... lots of famous songs.

Gunther Schuller (1925) ... went on to develop what became known as "third stream" in music.

Peter Hall (1930) ... distinguished director of theater and opera in England and a large part of the RSC and NT.

Jesse Colin Young (1941) ... singer/songwriter for The Youngbloods, who had a radio hit.

Ron McClure (1941) American Jazz bassist that joined Blood, Sweat and Tears

"Little" Steven Van Zandt (1950) (same birthday as mine!!!!) ... a part of Bruce Springsteen's group.

Tina Weymouth (1950) (same birthday as mine!!!) ... Bassist and part of the Talking Heads

.... was thinking that we want to name, next, the pornstars on our birthdays?

Okay, since my birthday is coming up (Feb. 25), I thought I'd take a look. No prog, but a lot of performers:

Enrico Caruso (legendary operatic tenor)
Ralph Stanley (legendary bluegrass banjoist)
Faron Young (honky-tonk singer)
George Harrison (legendary Beatle)
Ryo Kawasaki (jazz fusion guitarist and synth programmer)
Frank "Poncho" Sampedro (rock guitarist of Neil Young & Crazy Horse)

I'm not an aficionado of such things and did not know the name, but a search revealed that you share the same birthday with Drake Shooter. No names that caught my eye for my birthday. That said, I would rather we not go down that route much.   Better forums for that, no doubt, than a prog rock forum.

Not a long list for my birthday. But to mention a few:

Ray Wilson (1968) - Scottish vocalist who participated on an album released under the Genesis moniker
Kelly Groucutt (1945-2009) - ELO bassist
Pigpen McKernan (1945 - 1973) - keyboardist for the Grateful Dead
P!nk (1979, not quite prog) - vocalist

The only musician that I like and I share my birthday with is Arlo Guthrie, exactly 10 years older than me.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I knew I shared the same birthday with Chris Squire when he passed away. Apparently Antonio Vivaldi (proto-RPI Cool) was born on that day as well.
