What is your favorite underrated epic prog song? It shouldn't be Close to the Edge or Supper's Ready. My personal list in this poll.

I haven't thought of the ones I know as underrated -- don't get as much attention as various other names commonly. So underrecognised by many perhaps, but I have seen considerable recongition and respect for various of these in my time at PA. Eruption is overshadowed by Hamburger Concerto. I love both.

I guess I can get who some might not like "Aumg" and thus hold it in lower regard than I would. I will give the excellent "Mumps" a vote regardless of its status.

Focus - Eruption ( I don't think The Nice - Rondo is a an 'epic' in any way shape or form , only Five Bridges Suite and Ars Longa Vita Brevis would count under the much used 15 minute rule, Rondo doesn't even make it to 10 minutes on the Emerlist Davjack debut and although it's longer on the posthumous release Elegy, still not an epic though)

Can's Aumgn. The lyrics on this are amazing. I can't decide on whether I'm a translucent nanoemulsion or a moon made out of socks.

I agree Five Bridges Suite would be a better choice, so I changed it. Do you prefer Five Bridges Suite over Emerson's Piano Concerto n°1?

Also, I f*cked up the poll and put Utopia - The Ikon as the title. LOL But yeah, The Ikon is part of the poll!

Unfortunately I don't know most of these. I have the Viima cd with that epic track on it though so I suppose I should listen to it.

The Nice ... always.

Not on the list, UK 'Carrying No Cross'.

Not easily comparable as The Five Bridges Suite is a prog track featuring both orchestra and band (as is Ars Longa Vita Brevis) although Emerson did perform some of the Piano Concerto with The Keith Emerson Band (although no orchestra in that case). However I do prefer Piano Concerto No 1.

Nice choice Wink

My not on the list option would be IQ - The Last Human Gateway.

Not on the list:

Big Big Train: (1) The Underfall Yard (2) East Coast Racer

Among fans of the band, these are not underrated. I feel they are not as well known, but stand up quite well with other top epics.

Not an easy choice. The two that mean more to me are Histoire and 5 bridges for different reasons.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Going with Procul Harum in this poll, but for an underrated epic not on this, I'd go with Marillion's Grendel.

Voted for Procol Harum's In Held Twas in I, one of the earliest prog epics.

I typically listen to prog for the full album's sake, so I don't memorize most epics on a track-by-track basis.  But I'd like to point out that the re-recording of Banco's metamorphosis, Milliontown and Wobbler's Foxlight are all mindblowing.
