Formed in late summer 2009, Armenian Space Station are an American progressive metal band from Los Angeles, California. The group is the vision of classically-trained pianist Greg Hosharian (of fellow LA prog-metallers Redemption) and seasoned drummer Barrett Yeretsian, both of whom are responsible for the intentionally ironic band name. Working as professional producers and songwriters in the music industry, the two were collaborating on scores for television and film before realising some tracks could translate well with a full ensemble to flesh them out. Hosharian and Yeretsian recruited guitarist Phil Trujeque and bassist Clint Feddersen - the latter a longtime collaborator with Yeretsian in several LA bands like Beat & Path and Aviatic - and the ASS was now ready for lift-off.

In the same ballpark as Liquid Tension Experiment, the quartet's style is a high-energy and piano-dominant instrumental prog-metal with neoclassical, jazz and Caucasian folk flourishes, taking cues from genre titans like Dream Theater, Tool and Rush, German/Austrian greats like Beethoven, Mozart and Bach, and legendary Armenian composers Komitas and Aram Khachaturian. The band played their first show in October 2009 at the SunChild Festival in Yerevan, Armenia, with a subsequent performance at the Roxy Theatre in April 2010 to celebrate the self-release of their eponymous EP.

Armenian Space Station reappeared on the scene over a decade later in 2020, now with additional guitarist Doug Weiand (of Closed Circle and Death Dealer Union), and issued two new singles in 2022, demonstrating a newfound djent influence.
