The foundation of Synthagma goes back to late 2021 in the middle of the pandemic when drummer Thomas (Ex-Trespass) and organ/keyboard player Ropp (Ex-Kampai, Ex-Emarald-Edge) met again after some years and decided to form a new band and to search for suitable band members. Both musicians were former founding members of INQUIRE in 1996 (disbanded in 2003 - temporarily reunited for a shot interval in 2009).
They played together on four highly recommended INQUIRE albums before their ways split for some years but they continuously stayed in loose touch. In 2023 they met their exceptional guitarist Roland and started intensive rehearsals and in 2024 bass player Thomas joined and completed the band. The band members live around Leichlingen - closely situated to Cologne in Germany.
With their debut album, titled Radical Animal, Synthagma present own compositions in the tradition of the legendary 70s bands like Emerson Lake and Palmer, early King Crimson, or Ekseption.

Hi,

Now that I have had my brain deep fried and have heard this a couple of times ... and all I can tell you is that I still do not have enough words to describe this ... this ... it's far out, it's neat, it's special, and it is not formulaic at all, and constantly challenges your listening ability.

It's really nice to see someone do that instead of the usual riffed stuff that is thought to be progressive, and then you hear things like this ... and the mathematics and equations just went to the stratosfear ... where so few folks go.

VEry nice stuff, and with some neat instrumentation, and uses that are different, and well defined, and played like it was meant to be. You get the feeling that many moments in this whole album are improvised, since the various parts, often don't seem to be connected, but you end up coming out of the other end with ... wow ... what was that?

And it was a magnificent listen and one of the best for me in quite some time.

I think I would like to call this "radical listen", because it is what it is!

Very nice ... wonderful!

-------------
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
