Roine Stolt. That's a no-brainer for me.

BTW, Mike En Regalia is a German person, who lives in Skåne, Sweden.

The selection felt a bit limited in scope to me, I'm afraid. Among their contemporaries, its undoublty:

Reine Fiske:

Morte Macabre
Dungen
Anna Järvinen
The Amazing
Elephant9
Motorpsycho
Landberk
...and more

But my actual favorite is:

Bo Hansson

Björn J:Son Lindh and Janne Schaffer have been involved in plenty of great stuff as well (including their solo works)

In regards to the options in the poll: I think I used to argue with Mike En Regalia back in the day when I was closer to being that disgusting snob still Grumpy considers me to be. Mike seems like a perfectly fine specimen, but I also happen to know that he's actually German. I quite like Gösta Berlings Saga and selected growl-era Opeth. So it's either Mattias Olsson or Åkerfeldt. I don't know which one.

*never been the biggest fan of Anglagard - but although their music doesn't really connect, I acknowledge that they are good at what they do.

I voted for Rikard Sjöblom for his involvement in Bootcut over any of his other bands.

For Morte Macabre alone, I'd vote for Fiske.

Björn J:Son Lindh is another great Swede.

Plenty of Swedes, but no Turnips in this poll?

Your comments speak for themselves.

Kind of sh*tty comment. But if you think everyone on your list is superior to Terje Rypdal, your
opinion doesn't matter anyway.

From the list Gildenlöw. Outside the list Mattias Eklundh.

Stolt...but I would have picked Hans Lundin (Kaipa) if he were on the list; he has a lot to do with their sound as co-producer or producer, and, of course, keyboards...

Technically I am German, but I'll soon have Swedish citizenship as well, so I guess it counts ... and I'm a https://open.spotify.com/album/7lkDKYIrwiGW5kcq4M79sJ" rel="nofollow - published artist

Daniel Gildenlöw for me. Stolt might be more influential overall, especially with Transatlantic, but the first four PoS releases are just above and beyond.

Gotta give a vote for Kaipa. Not a fan of their newer releases, but their old stuff is top-notch. And I appreciate their shot at synth-pop believe it or not.

As the initiator of this poll, and recognizing Mike's pending Swedish citizenship, I declare his nomination valid. Also, I voted for Mike accordingly.

From the list Jonas Reingold the world class bass player followed by Mattias Olsson.
I would vote for either Reine Fiske or Nicklas Barker over anyone on this list though. With Barker my number one.

As far as I practice having favourite Swedes, I'd say Anna von Hausswolff.

Surprised no one's voted for Mikael Akerfeldt yet, he's long been my "number 1" Swede in the prog world... whatever that means.

On a side note, I do like all Swedes in prog and while that list looks fabulous, why did you leave out Nicklas Barker of Anekdoten??? He even had his birthday yesterday! He's way up there on my list.

Also Dan Swanö is worth mentioning. He's got a diverse discography and helped a ton of bands as a producer.

Yes I like most of the others as well, but Morte Macabre is the reason I felt strongly about mentioning him.
