Make your own supergroup! This has
probably already been done, but uhhhh, well I don't really care.Try to
make them work together, which may not be possible, but keep it in
mind. Im pretty set on my picks, but i need feedback from you guys
which will conflict with mine and may make me reconsider...
Lead Vocals - Peter Hammill, He can portray any charecter you can desire, and you will have some fancyfull lyrics too!
Lead Guitar - Steve Howe, Needs no introduction
Rhythm Guitar - Pete Townshened - Not the best vertuoso, but can make
every song more interesting with his off time strum patterns and his
rock solid playing.
Bass Guitar - Stanley Clarke, Most in your face bassist of all time, he
makes you want to quit playing instruments all together. Jaco would
take this spot, but he can't play a double bass like clarke, which
would add so much more to the music.
Keyboard Organs Moogs ..- Keith Emerson, Why does his B-3 sound so
strong? He can carry the band to wherever they need to venture, and his
custom Moog can creat outworldly sounds.
Drums - Neil Peart, You know, i am a huge Rush fan, but i must say that
About 50% of Rush's worldwide success is because they got the professer
behind the drums.
So there you go, you know, this really doesnt make sence, and would be
some pretty off beat music. Your Turn! And by the way, i know
there no Genesis members, but i feel they work best with eachother.
Good Luck!

O.k. I'm thinking Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Aquaman. They could call themselves the Justice League of America or something.

Seriously, this has been done many enough times for everyone to get tired of it.

My personal choice;
Vocals; David Byron (one of rock and yes, prog's, most influential singers- nobody ever sounded like Byron before, yet 100s have sounded like him since...)
Guitars; Steve Hackett/ Robert Fripp
Bass; Jack Bruce
Keyboards; Rick Wakeman
Drums; Bill Bruford
Flute; Ian Anderson
Sax; David Jackson
Violin; Darryl Way
Viola; Geoffrey Richardson
This'd be one hell of a band imo...I'd call them 'Logical Progression' or some such..

More than techically superb players, a real supergroup for my taste would need to have great composers and lyricists. Therefore I put together this line-up from my favourite bands. The band would surely have a BIG and 70-ish sound.
Vocals & lyrics - Fish (as he sounded in his prime, the 80's)
Guitars - David Gilmour & Steve Rothery
Keyboards, piano & mellotron - Tony Banks & Richard Wright
Drums - Neil Peart
Bass & lyrics - Roger Waters
Flute & acoustic guitar - Ian Anderson
Backing vocals - at least 3 female backing vocalists from the Floyd/Waters camp to deepen and enrich the sound
(Guidance - Peter Gabriel)
This band would record only concept albums that are penned on turns by Fish and Waters. Gilmour would also sing occasionally, the mellow parts, while Anderson is doing his acoustic guitars. All of the musicians, except Waters of course, would have a chance to play solos on their respective instruments. Composing would be shared as well.
It's a pity I had to drop Peter Gabriel out of the line-up, but he would contribute significantly to the band's theatric live performances. I feel that Geddy Lee might have been in the band as well, but his style of playing and composing wouldn't fit to the general style of the band. Andy Latimer also almost got chosen, because he would have sounded great on guitars with Gilmour, but at the end he got a shorter straw than Rothery, because this band would benefit more of the latter's composing.

These are not exaclty super groups, but they would go well together:
- Guitar- David Gilmour
- Drums- Dave Grohl
- Bass- Geezer Butler
- Vocals and piano- Steven Wilson
which would sort of be an agressive, early heavy metal influenced space rock band
-or-
- Guitar- Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath)
- Drums- Will Champion (Coldplay)
- Bass- Roger Waters (Pink Floyd)
- Vocals, lyrics- Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) & Win Butler (Arcade Fire)
- Keyboard- Richard Wright (Pink Floyd)
which would be sort of a loud mix of art rock and post-rock taking influences from jazz and blues
-or-
A band composed of dead people only:
- Jim Morrison- Vocals, lyrics
- Kurt Cobain- Vocals, guitars, lyrics
- John Bonham- Drums
- Cliff Burton- Bass
This would be better than my living super groups. It would be jazz, prog, blues and heavily acid influenced grunge/ hard rock and have insane instrumental pieces and genius lyrics.
