I actually prefer "For girls who grow plump in the night".

Isn't Gong's "You" listed as Canterbury?

Too hard of a decision for me, cause they're all amazing albums.

For me: Of Queues And Cures by National Health.

I'd call invalid a Canterbury poll without a single National
Health, Egg or Gong album. While both Hatfields rank with
those, the 2 NHs and Gong's Angel's Egg and You have to be
the pinnacles of this genre. I've tried several times with The
Land of Grey and Pink, but despite its naive charm, warm vibe
and pre- (better than) Camel groove, can't make out what's so
fabulous about it. Can someone explain this to me? Endearing
as it is, it sounds quite dated compared to the gems cited
above.

Yes, you should get the first Hatfield album and Matching Mole as well, if you haven't got it yet. There's so much little-known Canterbury suff out there. Lets see, all the Softs solo projects and collaborations, Khan, Arzachel, the first gen Caravan albums (up to cunning), Hugh Hopper solo albums, etc...

ITLOGAP, followed by "The Rotters' Club" and "If I Could Do It....". All fantastic albums, with great music and a very British sense of humour.

National Health debut album

I agree that we are alittle hamstrung by this list which is why my vote is with 'The Rotters Club'. I would have been happy to plump for 'For Girls....' or even 'Blind dog......' for mine instead of the earlier Caravans, despite their obvious importance as landmark albums inthis area.

Looking still the same after all these years...

For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night is a work of genius.  Hands down.  FGWGPITN my favorite canterbury album.

In the Land of Grey and Pink is good as well, by Nine Feet Underground is bit hackneyed and goes on too long.

my vote has to be for Soft Machine Third

Hatfield and the North (same) a close second...

They aren't Canterbury, that's why they're not on the list. Just cause Sinclair was in Camel for a couple of albums (his presence didn't have that much of an effect anyways, excluding songs like "Down on the Farm" of course), doesn't make them Canterbury.

If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You is probably my favorite, closely followed by Rock Bottom.
