My proposal is to meet at about 1000 AM at Central Station in The Hague on Saturday March 18th. We pick up the 'foreigners' and we start for a sightseeing, including Het Binnenhof, De Gevangenpoort, Het Vredespaleis and then record shop Plaatboef, 'coffee' shop Sky High, perhaps the Red Light District (by request  ), every other or additional proposal is welcome. Then we could go to my home for a drink and listening/watching some special or rare progrock. Eventually we can have a pint and a dinner in The Fiddler, an English pub/restaurant in the center of The Hague.

We should talk about the sleeping places for 'the foreigners', Sean Trane has a great offer I read! Is this OK to you?

I live in Alkmaar (during the week, but I guess also that special WE) which is about one hour drive north from The Hague, but can be conveniently close to Amsterdam for a sunday visit - three minute walk to the train station and 30 min to  Amsterdam Centraal station - or a day on the beach - just dunes sand and sea at this point but remember that it is only mid-march and it is the North Sea.

Ideally I can house two  progheads in separate rooms and maybe a third one on the sofa.

Should the two Archives members (that have already in principle accepted) confirm this to me, this would then leave just one more candidate.

Tents in the yard are not yet an option

Excellent and "well-balanced" programm!

I have to go there (it seems to be the best coffee in The Hague):
"Koffie en Dromen" Westeinde 86, 's-Gravenhage.
Is it far from the train station?

Oliverstoned, How do you know that place ? And no , it is not far from the Central Station.

Thanks to "amsterdam coffeeshop directory" website

It features a full list of all shops of Netherlands, with reviews.

Good news that it's close to the station. However, it's said that it's hard to find.

Koffie En Dromen is a quite popular 'coffee' shop, it's on the road from the center of The Hague to my home in South-East The Hague. Every time when I am travelling from my home to Central Station to go to Rotterdam for my work, I can smell the typical 'coffee'  scent when I pass Westeinde ...

^^^^^^^Ok, I know I spoke of this Red Light District first, but if our BaldAngels are part of this trip (as they hinted they would), we may want to be gentlemen and not subject them to our male hormonal behaviour.

I suggest that we give up on this idea or at least check on them how they would feel about it. You never know, they have some surprising attitudes to us males.

All apologies but it turns out that I'll be unavailable over that weekend as I have family from France visiting (I'd forgotten this) which my wife reminded me of.

I'm so dissapointed as I really wanted to meet up with all of you (the English expression for such bitter regret is 'gutted').

However I can personally vouch that Sean & Chris (Syzygy), who I believe are the only guys coming that attended the Prog Curry in London, are not serial killers but are in fact, amazingly good company who know an awful lot more about progressive music that I.

I wish you all the best and hope that I can meet up with you next time (it's probably a safe bet that there will be a next time).

Cheers guys.

Wait, is this instead of the planned April 1st convention at "The Gevangenispoort" in The Hague? I fear that to be the truth, because I can't imagine two events taking place so close after each other.

I don't hope so, because I can't make it on March 18.

OK!! let's get serious

March 18 is only six weeks away!!! Time to think about your tickets if you want to travel at lower costs as long-term reservation tickets can come at half-price than last minute orders

Those of you travelling by train, which I suspect is the case with Syzygy and Alucard and Oliverstoned.

Chris, you might want to check for ferries London to Hoek Van Holland or Rottedam >> this is just a spit away from The Hague

If london-brussels is 2H30 long via Eurostar and Paris-Brussels via Thalys  is 1H30, Brussels - The Hague is roughly 2H30 via Thalys (this may appear outrageously long , but it is not yet on its proper site and will not be until next year)!! This means that you being in THE Hague for 10AM is impossible if you depart on saturday!!! Good thing about this is that you do not change station: you arrive to Brussels Midi and do not have to change station since the line towards Netherlands starts at Brussels Midi

For our BaldAngels, I do not know the German train situation but coming from Klon to Brussels and then The Hague is likely also too long , so they might think of an alternative other than Brussels

remember that those Thalys and Eurostar trains are expensive enough that if you are two buying tickets, it might be cheaper to drive (and so much more flexible, too)

We'll travel by car. Prepare yourself for some lively moments, because we'll bring Alice and Dorothy along (both aged 4). Alice is the more agile of these two, but Dorothy has the more wicked ideas; together they are a holy terror.

Thank you very much to think about that.

-First, i confirm that i'll come with a proghead friend.

-Second, we are currently wondering if we come by train or plane.
Indeed, we'll not be abble to arrive at 10.00AM if we leave by train on Saturday Morning. We are not planning to leave Friday night and sleep in the train, cause we already been to Amsterdam (with the same friend) using night train and it was so bad that i've been unable to sleep at all.

So, if we choose to leave from Paris at about 8.00 AM, we'll be there around 12.00, which is not bad i think.

If we come by plane, we'll be there sooner i suppose.
But in this case, the matter is to know how far from the rendez vous is the airport location.

Anyway, i'd prefer the train, cause i'd not feel very secure in plane since the recent aerial accidents.
Moreover, train enables to enjoy the countryside view better than plane.

PLANE:

If you land in Schipol , the airport is on my way down to the Hague and there are many trains doing Amsterdam- Schipol- The Hague so that is easy, too!

CAR:

might be the longest (that is not even sure though, because of transfers) but ending up the cheapest especially if at three with Martin - shared gas costs

Considering that in London; this was finally set-up with only two days to go, we are on schedule

I love Hawaii (especially Kauai), but The Netherlands is even closer for me here in Boston!

It's "Belladonna" strain. VERY psychedelic and extremely intense rush, close to mushrooms. Not for little players!
But i expect that the real Hawaiain must be even crazier.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT .. the larch ..

OK, but seriously folks: on March 18th we have Glass House, Joren, Sean, perhaps Dreamer, Oliverstoned (+friend?), BaldJean (+family?), Chris (=Syzygy) and myself (nobody forgotten).

Is it correct Sean, that you can host all the foreigners?

Let's evaluate this and make a final plan, OK?

Saturday March 18th 1200AM at The Hague Central Station, sightseeing and shopping (record shop Plaatboef is a good possibility), a drink and some CD's/DVD's at my home and then dining and drinking in The Fiddler (perhaps I should make reservations). Is this OK to you, fellow progheads?

Sunday: Sean plus the progrock family to Amsterdam?

OK guys, I'll confirm for definite in the next few days - just need to sort my travel out.

I'm just as happy to find a cheap room somewhere if space is going to be an issue at Hugue's place, though obviously I'd rather be with the rest of the gang.

I'm also trying to get the Monday off so I can make a long weekend of it, so a Sunday jaunt to Amsterdam could be fun - I hear there are many good ... errmmm ... museums and things there.

Jean and I will share a mattress or anything; we just need something decent for the kids, and close to us, so we will be around when they wake up at night in a strange house.

Hi!

I hope someone will have a photo device (me and my friend haven't it) to take some pics and put it on the forum.
And BTW, your signature's Fripp quote is excellent.

Hi Oliverstoned - thanks for your comment re the Fripp quote - it is one of my favorites.

I sincerely hope we do get to see some piccies up on the forum -

Are we not forgetting Huub (radioctivetoy) and Tuxon? Anybody PM'd them yet? Was Joren not supposed to bring Jimmy Kasparov also?

Is it correct Sean, that you can host all the foreigners? If everyone comes than this could make up to 10 people in my house (possibly my girlfriend will be there too, but Syz's girlfriend, apparently will not), which will be quite crowded, but what the hell. Mattrasses and sleeping bags will be welcome though

Let's evaluate this and make a final plan, OK?

How is the parking situation around the Centraal station, because I will drive and our French delegation will also, and I do not know how our BaldAngels are travelling

Sunday: Sean plus the progrock family to Amsterdam? This was only a suggestion or go to the Baltic sea............. Uuuuuhhhmmmm!!!!!!!!!!............ the North Sea coasts beaches. The tulip fields will not be ready yet, but the daffodils and crocus will be

Just Pm'd Dragon Phoenix/Hennie, Tuxon/gerald and Radioactive toy/Huub

It's difficult to park the car near Central Station The Hague, I would suggest to use the big parkings in the center of The Hague and then walk or travel by tram to Centraal Station, OK?

I will hear from you.

What about the ladies? You want them to play too? Preferably with traditional exchanging of shirts at the end of the match?

Yes , afcourse and with a lot of cheering and hugging. Can you play ? , if you play like the German team we will probably not see you in the match exept for the last second where you score and take victory.

I am glad that the German progrock show more of their skills than only the last minutes like the German national squad used to do on big tournaments  .. ..!

Well, with Belgium down (football-wise that is even if we are better than the 50th ranking worldwide) I must insist that this is a prog meeting and not a football meeting

So with the French delegation now up to six (three forum members and three non-members) and taking  hotel rooms in Den Haag, I must state that I have more space in the house.

I cannot believe that the Dutch would miss out on such a business possibility. More likely they will be opened extra late for the cash opportunities.

You should see how the French represent over half the people/customers in Maastricht's coffeeshops. I believe it is almost mandatory to hire french speaking dealers in Maastricht
