My new Electric Universe (my one man prog-metal band) EP is now online, I am really happy with the way it turned out, and I am despretly awaiting feedback. There are loads of solos and stuff to be had, so please give it a spin.

Are you on this site? How many years have you been playing? How old are you? Do you have any albums available nationwide?

(standard questions I ask to anybody with a band)

I am not on this site, Electric Universe started earlier this year and it is just me playing all the instruments, I am 17 years of age and have no albums available nation wide.

I would be very great full for some feedback...hint hint.

Thanks for the comments, but whats wrong with metal? I will admit that Progressive Rock is alot better than prog metal, but it is difficult to write/play prog rock.

That's part of the attraction of Prog Liege, it's harder to play and requires a little more technical and creative ability. It's the very thing that sets it apart from most forms of music (classical aside).

Prog metal (I believe) is just as challenging as Tool, latter day King Crimson and some Dream Theatre demonstrate.

By the way, welcome to the forum

I'm not too concerned with the technical side of things, (check out 'Attack of the Vanilla Space Corpse' from my EP) its more that I have a great deal of respect for progressive rock bands like Yes, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind ect, and I don't think that I should 'pollute' the genre with half-arsed attempts at it.

Not bad mate. Perhaps it could do with a bit more structure and the drum beat is flat but good for first attempt. Keep up the good work.

Cheers, my next songs are going to have drums that sound less electronic, and yeah I guess I'll have to improve on the structure.

Alright, I'll check it out...

Crystal Boards: Nice intro, reminds me a little of Mike Oldfield.

I Asked The Man...: The spoken intro is cheesy as hell and it's a little unfocused, but there's some impressive playing.

Attack of the Vanilla Space Corpse: Nothing really too different from the last track.  Once again there's some good playing, but once again it seems to exist simply for the sake of showing off your ability to go "meddleymeddleymeddley" on guitar.

I Left Reality...: Another great melodic track, a fair bit like the first one, yet still different enough to not get boring.  I like it!

I think you should stick to the more melodic prog style on the piano based tracks.  If you do decide to continue the metal route, try to make your songs more cohesive and rythmic, as opposed to just belting out solos.  You've got talent, and I'd say this is a promising first recording.  At the same time, I think your compositions need to get a lot tighter and more focused.  Not bad at all though, and certainly better than I could do

Thanks for all the comments. I record by micing up
an amp (check the equiptment part of my site for
details) And I mix everything on a computer. I think I'll
try and blend some of the melodic piano stuff with
metal on my next song.

A noble thought but hey, maybe your attempts might not be as bad as you think. Every musician has to start somewhere

Yeah but I think I'll stick to progressive metal for now. I think I'd like to have a proper band if I was going to play progressive rock.

I must agree with Useful_Idiot, escpesially the part, I cannot do better myself.

I like the piano Intro and Extro (being a great addict to piano-based music), also the guitar playing (espescialy the second song) is very nice, The music would benefit IMO from a more structured and maybe evolving approach. I missed a direction in the music, it was just there. For me it was like listening to snippets of potentially good songs.

Keep up the good work and assemble a band, could/should be interresting.
