         Hi Everyone!

I'd like to discover the musical world of Dead Can Dance. Which is their best album for starters or overall ?

 Thank you.

Me thinks 'Aion' is the best place to start. Beautiful album, although a bit short (only 36 minutes). Other cool albums are 'Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun' and 'The Serpent's Egg'.

Great band (one day to be included here)

first part of their career is Medieval-ish

the second part is more ethnic

Bith parts are quite recommended

keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Just don't buy any compilations. Their First album is quite something. From then, they explore many other directions. Finally, they spit on each other's face, and went to hell, by suggestion of another band member. Now, when you say that you want to explore the musical world of something, it sounds like you're gonna get into somekind of wizzard of Oz situation...

Well, I would go out and get the Toward the Within DVD. (but that's just me.)

PS saw them recently with the chmaber orchestra.  Lisa Gerrard was incredible, and I usually don't use that word.

excellent choice !

Aion or Spirit Chaser are among my favourites.

But also Duality (half DCD - only the Singer Lisa Gerrard with Peter Bourke) is good.

Abd don't forget the OST of the Gladiator (Zimmer Hans + Lisa Gerrard)

Ciao !!!

Members of Dead Can Dance were also involved with This Mortal Coil. The first one was great, "...it will end in tears." It had some great songs on it, like "Song To The Siren" and "Another Day"

Spirit Chaser, yeah, incredible work...but you really should go out and get all three This Mortal Coil albums as well...they fit together remarkably well and (as you now know) include some of the same people. The male half of the band, Brendan Perry, also released a solo album that is more or less the same, and very good.
