Released this Monday:Is anyone going to buy them?!? They look extremely tempting.Double discs.Loads of extras,unreleased material etc. -------------

Mine are on order, I've seen The Moody Blues in concert in the 1990s, they were great, they are the band my parents used to play a lot and they have some vinyl, they have really gotten me into prog. It does help that Justin Hayward went to the school I went though, as well as writing some of the songs in the area, it adds that extra bit of nostalgia. I only have two Moody's albums, so that is why I've orded them. I have Days of Future Passed already, but it won't hurt having the new one and the other one, is the excellent "Caught Live Plus Five", which has an amazing live version of "Legend Of A Mind". -------------

Would like the bonus stuff, but not happy to spend premium prices for albums I already own (all of them!), so I think I'll hang fire a bit. Actually, I have a love/hate relationship with bonus tracks: most artists create an album as a complete body of work and I tend to listen to them as such - adding extra tracks to a classic just doesn't seem right somehow. And, yes I know you can press the off button or re-compile etc! The other side of the coin is that I often want the bonus material. Occasionally, insertion of one or more bonus tracks works really well - eg Pink Floyd's The Final Cut and Hayward/Lodge Bluejays (which adds Blue Guitar to the original). |

Amazon are knocking them out for between £8.99-£12.99.
Strangely enough,On the Threshold...which seems to have the most bonus material is the cheapest.  -------------

Look at my last tracks listened to, poor Last.fm won't know what hit it! Most of the remasters are new to last.fm as well, so I'm the only one who's played them. I must say, some of the alternate takes are better than the original in my opinion. -------------

The Deluxe editions really are excellent. Fantastic sound,Fantastic packaging and sleevenotes. This really is how it should be done! -------------

They certainly are. Only issue is are the two single disc albums with the bonus tracks on the end, rather that on a separate disc, but that's still not a huge issue. And Phil Travers is underrated as an artist, I believe he's as good as that other fellow! -------------

"To Our Children's Children's Children" is a full on prog album in my opinion, certainly not proto-prog.

| Picked up the new version of "Days of Future Passed" at the weekend - sounds awesome and it's a big improvement on the original CD. I haven't played the bonus material yet, but it's worth buying just for the original album. Nice packaging too, the Moodies had a great line in paisley shirts with wing collars. |
