I propose that we scrap live performance review, new band suggestions and the the proto prog and prog related lounge. These could easilly just be gotten rid of and grouped with the Prog music lounge and sometimes prog polls. Nobody really looks at the suggested forums nearly as much as they do the other two and i dont think this is just because nobody is interested. For example in a recent poll as to whether Rainbow should be included in prog archives while in prog polls it got about 14 votes in a day, when moved to suggested bands it got approximately none in a day.

I take your point but ultimately we need to educate people to use the correct forum.
Just because members refuse to consider that there is forum life outside the Prog Lounge doesnt mean we should pander to this.

The reason new have different sections is because the forum is busy. If we jsut lumped all the threads into one section, they would disappear off the fist page of that section within minutes.

As Tony says, the answer is for people to use the correct sections. It is a fact that of your thread is in a less busy section, it will remain at or near the top for much longer.

Because nobody looks at it. The topics might go off the screen faster but more people will have looked at it before it does thus balancing out in terms of responses i suppose. People would just get a faster response. I don't think it would have as large affect as you make out either as there aren't that many topics posted in those forums.

Couldn't you just request that if someone was suggesting a band they put "band suggestion" or something of the sort next to the topic title? That way you would be easily able to find the relevant threads.

Are you aware of the active topics facility Psychy? You may find it useful if you are not.

I don't know about other people, but I usually look through all the active topics, no matter which forum they're in.

My suggestions for reorganizing the forum:

- Remove the extra poll categories and move prog poll to the prog music lounge, and normal polls to the non-prog music lounge. Then allow the creation of polls in any category (except for a few special categories like prog news or announcements)

- Introduce a category "Interactive/Feedback" where only admins can create threads. Then move all the threads there which are monitored by admins/team members - like Inappropriate reviews, Bands added, Report Abuse, ...

Mike, the non-prog music lounge does support the creation of polls, that is where they should be for non-prog. The "Polls" section is for not related to music polls.

The prog polls were taken out of the PML as a lot of people complained they cluttered it up. For me, the PML is still too busy. We need to get some more of the discussion away from there to other sections. Just my personal opinion.

Polls can be created in some other categories, but they can be misused if they are too freely available. If there are specific sections which don't' support them, and which you feel should allow them, let us know what they are.

The Interactive/feedback sounds like the "Help us improve the site" section?
