Krautrock... Can and Amon Duul II are great.  I need some Neu though, then the others.

Tough call.

Krautrock tends to be more wild and upredictable - when it's good it's fantastic.

Space rock can also be wild and unpredictable... and some Krautrock is space rock (e.g. Eloy).

If I had to choose between, say Amon Duul II and Hawkwind, I'd probably choose Hawkwind - but I have a particular soft spot for the more obscure Kraut bands that recorded on a budget, like Necronomicon, Erlkoenig and Kaputter Hamster. I'm not so keen on the major players like Guru Guru.

My favorite krautrock band is Can. Followed by Tangerine Dream, Amon Düül II, Neu and Cluster.

All these bands has some degree of spacerock in its music.

You forgot to say 'why?' Wink

I'm more into Spacerock, because as far as I'm familiar with the Krautrock principle, it is less coherent than most of the space rock stuff I listen to

I love both and don't prefer one over the other. And the borders are not as strict as one might think, since there have been exchanges of musicians to and fro. For example members of the Ozric Tentacles, Hawkwind and Van der Graaf Generator played on albums of the British Amon Düül. Or Cluster working with Brian Eno.

Spacerock like Hawkwind and Pink Floyd....I prefer this genre 'cause is nearer at the sound of psychedelic rock that I love so much...

Krautrock can be spacerock, but any spacerock out of Germany isn't krautrock? Tongue

I can decide, so I wont vote.

It's too hard for me to choose. Space rock is more easy to know - probably for each prog music fan. Krautrock is rather difficult to understand, but if you understand, you'll say: "It's great!"

Draw.

Spacerock is more cosmic, while Kraut is more mystical.

Space vs Earth's Nature

Sorry, I just think space is the greatest thing in the universe Wink

I love both equally, but I voted for Krautrock.

What about the bands that fit both??

Like...
Ash Ra Temple
early Tangerine Dream
Cosmic Jokers
Eloy

What do we call these bands?

Spacey Krautrock?
Krautspace?
Spacekraut?
The Space Over Germany?
