Seeing how "The Final Countdown" was the beginning of prog metal and how DT could only exist with the foundation laid by Europe, DT certainly cannot win. Vigil may be a top Neo album, but come on! Only CTTE can maybe compete with The Final Countdown!

Yes. And they are prog because at first I thought it was funny, then I thoguht it was bad and annoying, and now I honestly love that synth riff. And loving something after 200 listens is super prog :D
For one thing, TFC is way cooler than anything DT could do. If DT were cooler, then GOB would have used one of their songs for his magic act instead of TFC, right? Well, the thing is my hair was horrible anyway. I look much better now. The comparison between Dream Theater and Europe is pointless (again). What's your point?
Not only Europe is not a prog-rock band (great music though, I like them), it has nothing in common whatsoever with Dream Theater (musically I mean).
(I warmly recommend you Europe's 2004 comeback album Start from the Dark, it's very good - that's my humble opinion)

gosh, how could I have missed that?  Good thing Tony stopped this madness, otherwise next in line would've been DT vs Duran Duran, or Spandau Ballet, or Motley Crue...BTW, I didn't even bother to vote, as I don't like either of these bands. Europe are quite good musicians, though - all of them (but Joey Tempest, of course) played on Glenn Hughes' live album "Burning Japan", and did quite a good job of it too!  |
