let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I visited his grave while in Paris four years ago. Powerful sight.

Yes.
No, I can't find the words. I'll be thinking of him... silently... (as I did also before this date)...

Yeah, here's to another drunken pseudo-poet who's, no doubt, joined Elvis Presley in the heaven of fat b*****ds!

Cheers!

I think if Jim knew Val Kilmer was going to portray him he would have cleaned up his act and stuck around!  (Actually, Val was okay.  Could have been worse.  They could have gotten Tom Cruise or Travolta!)

True. However, Val looked uncannily similar to Jim in that movie (which was not half bad, IMHO).

He could be a real jerk but his impact on rock music was outstanding, what a voice and lyrics and what a stage antics Clap. In the early Eighties I visited his grave in Pere Lachaise in Paris, incredible how many people were visiting his grave too, from every age (between 15 and 55!). A few years later his statue was stolen by the way.
I love The Doors, what a pity that Jim couldn't control his emotions and became a victim of several additions and died so early Cry . Thanks for reminding Hugues (better now than never Wink ) , I will watch a The Doors DVD this evening as a tribute to the late Jim, one of my rock  heroes!

He was an absolute nut, a true waster of talent, as there are many. Drugs killed him, should we rejoice in that?

To Him as the Supreme King and Judge we commit our cause, casting our cares upon Him and firmly trusting that He will inspire us with courage and bring our enemies to nought.
