Do you think it's a good idea to create a "Best 100 albums by country" in the same way that this website has the best 100 lists by musical style and year? There could be a short introduction describing each country's Prog history briefly. It may sound like a vast undertaking but since all album descriptions in this website have the country of origin in their listings, I thought perhaps that is doable.
What do you think?

Great idea..

I'm for it and I think you should offer it to the webmasters

It IS a vast undertaking - I speak as a member of a Specialist team which is made up of only three people at the moment. We could do it only by enlisting the help of anyone available to participate in such an enormous enterprise. And then, we cannot take such initiatives on our own, because we're not the owners of this site. They would have to be in agreement with such a thing, and if they were not.... no way.

Another problem is that some countries (Britain, the US and some European countries like Italy or Germany) have a lot of bands, others have much fewer, and these latter would find themselves at a disadvantage.

On the contrary -- many albums from lesser known US, English, German or Italian bands will not be represented (due to the enormous number of bands), whereas the situation with the bands from the countries with lesser number of bands will be just an opposite one.

That's just a remark, with no relation to the main question.

I good idea. If they already managed to do best of lists by genre, why should it be so hard to do it by country?

I think countries like Italy, US and UK are already largely represented with the current listings. This could help people discover many new bands from other countries and even encourage prog musicians from Eastern Europe, Asia, South America etc.

I think I wouldn't be too interested in seeing what album rules of a country of musicians, but out of a genre, like it's right now.

Then again...nothing too wrong about it, just not too practical...

(note the overuse of the word too)

It sounds nice... but what will happen when you search top 100 mexican albums??

Maybe gathering all the artists an albums we will reach 70 LOL

Another option, Top 100 by Zone or Continent ... i dont know, your idea is not bad
