E, don't feed the trolls.  Wink

Should be a great DVD...I went to the show in Philly, it was the one right before the Radio City show.  Of course they did not have the orchestra and performance of the entire Six Degrees, but the performance of Octovarium (the track) was incredible, I appreciated it much more after seeing and hearing it live.

I simply can't see why people want to venture into a thread for a band they can't stand. Your only purpose is to stir up some sh*t. Here's an idea--make a contribution. What a concept, eh?

Maybe it's just me, but I simply stay out of the threads that have absolutely no interest to me. I like talking about things that make me passionate about progressive music. Progressive music should be positive and uplifting, and if I were to go into...say...a Jethro Tull thread and start spouting off about how much I dislike their music, then I become an unwelcomed guest and bring down the spirit in which the thread was created. Sorry, but I don't want to do that to the other members. I firmly believe in INDIVIDUALITY, and for me to go into that thread and bring it down, then it's being disrespectful to the individuality of the people who appreciate Tull's music.

Off the soapbox now.

I'll be getting the DVD hopefully this tuesday too. I don't mind that the concert has alot of Octavarium songs because I was in one of their concerts and I walk beside you sounded alot better than the album version, Panic attack was full of power and Sacrifised sons was very emotional (not to mention The root... and Octavarium) As always, DT sounded better live and LaBrie's voice improved alot since the Live at Budokan show.

hahaha as one who is either: a) on a soapbox or b) in the sewer    I appreciate your post.....  if you hadn't figured it by now... let me explain....  it's all for fun...  being a conscious decision on my part to try to inject a bit of 'humour' (my attempt at, at the very least haha)  into discussion where by the nature of the music and it's fans... can be a bit serious and oh....pretentous. overblown.. indulgent...excessive LOL  No harm intended... besides ....attention from the symphonic team means we feel your thread is of potential sufficient quality to actually have meaningful discussion about DT...thus a great threat and worthy of a visit to remind you who are the kings... err.. and  queen of PA's hahahhahah. OK? I went back and read your initial post, and although the line of "Not me" isn't exactly George Carlin, I'll take your word that you were attempting to be funny.

<<attention from the symphonic team means we feel your thread is of potential sufficient quality to actually have meaningful discussion about DT...thus a great threat and worthy of a visit to remind you who are the kings... err.. and queen of PA's hahahhahah.>>

If you feel you're that important, then we're all entitled to delusions of grandeur. Actually, the only opinions who matter (as it pertains to my worthiness) either live under my roof, or within my circle of family and friends. Other than that, think what you want to think, but I'll quit taking it all so seriously. Deal?

Íf you listen to Chris Squire or Geddy Lee the bass really stands out, also Dave Hope from Kansas.
But with Myung, too much of his playing is lost in the mix. I really don´t know why they haven´t done something about it because he is a brilliant bassist.

I haven´t heard Score yet, I wonder what the bass sounds like on this?

BTW, I think you should watch the SCORE DVD just to see them perform "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance" in full with a "30 Peice Orchestra" dubbed the "Octavarium Orchestra". It was amazing to witness and very impressive to hear. I was at the show so at least take my word for it. You may at least appreciate it. I suggest you check it out regardless of your qualms with the band.

when I get back from ProgDay I plan on cranking out some long long overdue reviews.  this one in the the 5 or so I feel I have to review.  In short... not bad...  it has some points that I really don't like but in other spots... I've caught myself liking.  She will get 5 stars for the site.... but my personal rating... has moved upward over my first impression which ...well... was not positive..

I watched the DVD last night and I now have a greater appreciation for Dream Theater. The performance of "Octavarium" is pure magic. Honestly, you would be hard pressed to find a group of musicians so uniquely skilled on their respective instruments. I'll always be a Marillion and Rush fan first; however, the talent these guys possess had me at a loss for words last night.

You may not like the band; but, to not recognize the talent is a huge oversight.

<<0cent outsells DT every hour...>>

I watched a video of said nobodies and they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Dream Theater. DT is famous worldwide for a reason. By the same token, how 50 Cent can outsell people of real talent who put musicianship first (i.e. Rush, DT, etc.) is a travesty. Wouldn't you say?

Did you just call me a racist? My friend, you have no idea what you're talking about. My comment had nothing to do with race. You don't even know me, so how could you even consider calling anyone a racist?

My recommendation is you should go back and re-read each post word for word before jumping to any conclusions and marking me with the scarlet 'r'. I was offensive? My man, nothing I've ever said comes close to this post of yours.

WS, race never entered my realm of thinking. I'm not innocent as I haven't chosen my words wisely; however, to call someone a racist for no reason is inexcusable, in my opinion. It's something I definitely do not take lightly.

You can't call a person a racist and not have it received in a serious manner. Just what planet are you from? Do you not comprehend the history defined in that one horrible word? My God, that one word has caused so much pain and bloodshed and I won't be identified with it. You obviously have no idea what it means to use it so casually.

Okay, since E-Dub took it so seriously and even bombarded me with PMs with his threats, I guess I'll make it official and my first serious post in this thread.

I do not mean any disrespect to anything related to racism in history. I did not expect anyone to react in any other way but laughing at me, as I defended 50 Cent the most hilarious way possibly and posted a punchline in freaking Caps for God's sake... How somebody could be so hot and emotional to take offense, warning me with ridiculous threats, let alone taking a post obviously made in a joking manner(I have no idea how badly you must read not to see anything ridiculous on purpose in that comment). That's what you get from being laid back after a tiresome day of work, I guess.

I apologise to PA forum members for taking an on-topic thread into a pointless direction, and promise not to make any attempts at humour on subjects americans, people of a country which knows no joke with subjects of minorities(though my horrible joke was basically the vice versa, but whatever), since that is very likely to be understood incorrectly.

EDIT: Banning E-Dub from PMing me because of his immature for his age and disgusting behaviour.

Yeah, no hard feelings. HugCan everyone go back to discussing Score, ignoring the posts related to 50 Cent and E-Dub's misunderstanding? I'd appreciate that. So, is, uh, everyone satisfied with the tracks chosen for the setlist? What would you change? Smile

And therein lies the problem. Not one of my PM's were threats. The only thing remotely construde as a threat was reporting you to the admins, which I've done. I would've just as soon keep it out of the public forums; however, you've decided to make this public.

So, a.) you didn't read the post correctly because I didn't refer to 50 Cent as a nobody. The exchanges between Mickey and myself go back a bit further; b.) you obviously have no idea what the word 'racist' means; c.) you've viewed my PM's to you as threats when they were far from them. Tell us something, what's the color of the sky in your world?

I would have thrown in some more from Scenes from a Memory.

I wanted them to go into a little more detail as to why they got rid of Derek Sherinain.

And they didnt' even mention A Change Of Seasons. I would've liked a bit more information on that.

No more personal exchanges here please Trickster and E-Dub.

If you have an issue with another member, refer it to the admin team in private.

Trickster - Remember to use emoticons when required. Sometimes humour does not come across as such in the written form, when translated and so on.
