most of the Canterbury fans must know this was the band that gave birth to the whole sub-genre... and I'm sure they know that The Wilde Flowers didn't record any albums at all, except for several tapes, which were found in some drawer and plubished in this compilation.

Needless to say, it's pretty rare stuff. However, I managed to find the CD (what luck did I have!), and I can't help feeling that all Canterbury fans should listen to it too. So, if there is anyone interested I might upload it, and everything will be avaiable.

Would like to hear it?

I've gotten into a lot of Canterbury lately and I'd love to hear it! I was searching for that compilation, but I had no luck.

Hmmm, I think it's best this thread be closed. What you are proposing is kinda against site policyErmm.

Discussing a band is fine, but talking about uploading files for someone in public isn't.

You're just saying that because you won't be able to download it with your crappy connection. Wink

Talking with Brian Hopper recently. Brian is  a former  Soft Machine player (Volume 2), brother of Hugh and their historian, so had quite some input in theCanterburied releases.  He's promoting a couple of recent recordings after a full time career as a scientist. The latest Just Desserts is available thru Burning Shed, and of a Canterbury style not heard before, perhaps verging on the ambient. If Ever I Am, the previous release, includes Robert Wyatt providing a few vocals, on particular tunes originally written for Wilde Flowers. Its version of  Hope For Happiness, (known from a number of Soft Machine recordings), is not  a virtuoso keyboard thrash out,  Brian tells me this new version is more representative of how Wilde Flowers would have played it, and has a distinct Raga feel about it.   If Ever Am I am and Canterbured recordings are available from Voiceprint/Blueprint Records label, at gateshead in the UK
