If you like metal you could try out the band Finntroll, which is a combination of polka and metal.  It sounds like a bad idea but they are really awesome

I haven't heard Finntroll (even when I know a couple of trolls here), but you're right Aqualung, the combination of Polka and Metal sounds terribly wrong.

More jazz than prog, but there have been a couple of ECM releases which feature the accordion prominently recently:

Anouar Brahem - Le Pas Du Chat Noir - oud, piano and accordion play haunting, Eno like pieces.

Tomas Sztanko - From The Green Hill - another masterpiece from the veteran Polish jazz trumpeter.

Check out Motion Trio. Not prog, but great nevertheless. Three guys on accordions, playing jazz, klezmer music and many other styles

Just a pre-emptive notice:  If any of you mention The Arcade Fire, I'm punching you in the face.  That album blows.

Thys certainly played the piano accordion on Hocus Pocus when I saw them here in the early 70's  - did you catch any of those gigs?

I believe Keith Emerson plays accordion on "C'est la vie", on Greg Lake's side of "Works vol 1". He certainly did so when they performed it live.

I'm pretty sure GL used someone else on the studio cut. It kinda pissed Emo off because he suggested it to Greg and then Greg got someone else to play it.  Emo did play it live.

Not exactly progressive, but Styx used accordion in a couple of songs from Cornerstone, can remember clearly that it was used in Boat on a River.

Finntroll are horrible! It's generic mixture mixed with generic polka, and so despite the odd mixture still sounds generic! There is the odd decent folky bit in metal songs, but mostly it just sounds stuck on top as a gimmick.

No, the keyboard parts for 'Sing for the Day' are totally played on synth, an Oberheim Polyphonic.

Oh yeah ... and Lars Hollmer of Samla Mammas Manna fame has recorded several accordion-heavy solo albums.

Hamster Theatre is an American RIO band apparently inspired by Samla Mammas Manna. They use a lot of accordion as well.
