I watched these two Magma video's which I them put on the archives, but I've got to admit Vander's antics left me quite bemused. Don't get me wrong I love Magma, its just sometimes they go beyond my thresehold and I end up having to catch up. I can't think of any band more bold as Magma. I set up this poll to see what you guys think, I'd watch the videos on this website before voting.
I think Vander is a bold visionary whom the rest of the world has'nt caught up with yet.

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)

Visionary, very definitely.

clicked on visionary. I love his music invention and I appreciate the way that he is simply scathing about "turned-off" music fans in his interviews - it's nice to hear someone being really undiplomatic for a change!

and http://ddesassis.free.fr/magma/enter.htm - here is an index to many interviews... most are french but I believe all you guys (i.e. non-french speakers...) are wise enough to find english ones Wink
hint: there's a magnificent review of MDK, along with what I suppose to be the translation of lyrics; at least it is the plot!

It's characters like Christian Vander that makes the world of prog fascinating! without them, the world would be boring and bland!!

Vive Christian Vander and MagmaThumbs%20Up (maybe the most unique band in this prog world)

Sadly I still haven't hear enough Magma and Vander albums to give him the Visionary so for know I'll vote for the third choice.

I can't think of a more unique and visionary composer/band leader than Christian Vander.  One of my favorite drummers, too.

Comletely agree. The videos I've seen lately have completely convinced me that he was in fact, a visionary. He just gets into the music so much! Of course, with the music he composes, who can blame him?

Yeah thats what I like about him, is that he really cares about his music and puts 110% effort into it unlike many others out there. He actually believes in what he's doing.
