The question is the following: which prog song describes your actual mood? Name it and tell why if you can; I mean, we sometimes don't know how describe our emotions......

Of course you can mention a song that could describe your persona as well....... kinda permanent mood, certain tendences you have, perhaps...... but people logically are moody and every minute their moods change and....... I'm being specific: right now, which prog song describes your mood?

opeth - windowpane

it's mellow, but still has the Opeth darkness.  Its hard to describe why it fits my mood, but it does.

In the latest weeks I feel like a Kid A (Radiohead) & Pantagruel's Nativity (Gentle Giant).

Maybe some issues related to my personal life are the cause of my actual love to these two songs...... Both are softly painful, depressing, mindblowingly......

Here is another point: can we have a little knowledge `bout a person before knowing him/her, but knowing his musical tastes and the song (prog or not) that he/she says it describes him/her mood??

Since it's summertime, it's the time of year that all my funk and reggae come out.  So lately I've been getting jiggy with it to Stephen Marley (who sounds excatly like Bob voice wise by the way) and Seeed.  Prog-wise, I'd have to say A Passion Play because it's so lighthearted and humor filled.

I'm in a kinda' mellow, conented mood at the moment so White Willows Ignis Fatuus fits best (but I'm still listening to PoS). I dont to listen to music to fit my mood, I just play music and let it lead me.

Right now, Tenemos Roads by National Health fits my mood. Relaxed and jazzy. That's why I'm playing National Health's first album right now.

When I watched parts of Live Earth, all I could think of was Porcupine Tree's "The Sound of Muzak." The lyrics just fit with my opinion of that event.

Now, I'd say Porcupine Tree's "Way Out of Here" has fit my mood for several months for reasons I won't specify (sorry Bob). Another would be Devin Townsend's "Random Analysis" as the lyrics pretty much sum me up at this point in my life (especially the break from "But I'm loving" through "I'm here for your unbridled entertainment") What a bed of roses my life is.

Also, Rush's "Freewill" has always appealed to my sensibilities, although I do add some Christianity to the independence, which may or may not ruin the point of the song...well, now I've got something to think about.

Something for Nothing by Rush. It's spoken a lot to me lately. I'm in college right now, trying my best so I can get accepted to an elite grad school. Among other important things in my personal life I'm trying to accomplish, it would be too easy to just give up and settle for less. But I really do want it, but I won't get it for nothing.

The song that would best describe my mood would probably be I Talk To The Wind off of ITCOTCK because the mood is mellow and overall relaxed and the mellotron is soothing.

Well, now that were talking about songs that describes ourselves and not our mood...

Arriving somewhere, but not here! A song that's serene and majestic, to slightly angry, to very artistic. Me in a nutshell!

Absolutely. Just bear in mind, musical tastes change with time, goes hand in hand with itellectual development of a person.
Good question, should be a separate thread thou.

I reckon the song which defines my mood for this whole damn YEAR has been Deadwing by P.T.
So ANGRy sounding as I have to deal with idiots all the time but mysterious as I'm always waiting for the end of this year- and pulling through ok which is why it sounds so good.
Argh- I love the song but I can't wait for this year to be OVER. Dead

Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day -Jethro Tull

I don't know why, but it seems to fit my mood for now. Thoughtful, I suppose would be the word, but the song seems to convey more than that.

As for a more general mood, I'll go with KC's "Lament". Again it's hard to say exactly why - I suppose for me it has a kind of excited yet cynical feel. That's the best I can do.

'Gates of Delirium' by Yes.  Somedays, after I seer with pain, anger and frustration for a while, I might have a blow up (like the middle part after the lyrics, "...on to hell").  Then, I mellow out and regain my composure, as per "soon, oh soon the time...."

I`m listening to No Fear by The Kostarev Group right now. I guess I`m in a freaked out mellow mood without any illicit drugs or alcohol. Just pure music. I guess I`m in a music mood because I`ve given myself the day off because I just feel like spending some time with my stereo.

Prodigal - Porcupine Tree

I'm really distracted right now, kinda just spacing out.  I'm not doing anything important (except procrastinating...).  Also Prodigal is kinda upbeat in parts too, which I also kinda feel because I'm not depressed, and I'm always kinda happy so ya Prodigal fits my mood best.

Also it's what I'm listening to...

Right now probably something like Debussy's Sonata for Cello and Piano or something off of Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.

I would say Ariving Somewhere But Not Here by Porcupine Tree would describe my current mood (or the mood I have had for the past week or so).

I would say the Jordrok by Anglagard would describe my persona.  Kinda darkish and... well... I can't think of the right words.  You know what I mean if you heard it.  ;)
