I figured this forum would be a good place for people to be interested in the sort of music I write.
Think elements of Pink Floyd, Meshuggah, experimental electronica and dark ambient.

Here's an 11 min track to check out:
http://www.garageband.com/song? - http://www.garageband.com/song? |pe1|S8LTM0LdsaSlZ1i1ZGA

The song is called "Even In My Dreams".

It contains a couple of minutes of dark ambient/soundtrack, a minute or so of electronica, 58 seconds of thrash metal, a few minutes of classical piano/organ, then another minute or so of dark ambient/soundtrack again.
So it's pretty diverse. If you wanna hear something different, check it out.

Please let me know what you think - I'd love to hear from people who appreciate this sort of music.

Sounds great though. The only suggestions I would give:

  • The ambient sections could/should be slower. There seems to be too much bulk to them, or too much going on. When it comes to ambient, less is more.
  • Some transitions were way too abrupt. The metal to classical was a bit too sudden, even if that was the intention.
  • The metal section should grow more intense and powerful...for example, maybe some keys doing a tasty chord progression in the back rising higher until the classical break
I liked it though, and my suggestions are just coming from a n00bian, so don't take 'em too seriously or anything.

(Yes, a n00bian is one from Naboo.)

I think you have some potential here, I like the techno part before the metal guitar kicks in and the ambient sustained guitar towards the end. Overall I like the way you are unafraid to take chances, your music is not cliche.

Thank you both for taking the time to listen.
I'll have a new song, probably about 18 mns long up in a few weeks.  For those familar with YES, this will be my "Awaken".

Risky, but interesting. I don't like the electronic bit, but that's a matter of not liking electronic at all. I do agree with Josh that the switch to the trash bit is a bit abrupt, but overall it works. Ever heard how Ayreon added some heavier stuff to The Banishment on The Final Experiment?

Overall - quite an interesting mix, mainly because you dare to take the risk of putting it all in one track.

^ Won't stop you there. Wink Take care though, they're not much like what you are doing, but that one track I referred to contains some ideas on transition between ' moods & styles'  that may be of interest to you.

Got a new track out.

Called "Church Of The Self", it's a long one, at nearly 13 mins. Progressive metal is probably the best description.
Can stream it from here:
http://www.soundstation.com/SOULARFLAIR.aspx - http://www.soundstation.com/SOULARFLAIR.aspx - that song should be at the top of the list, just press the arrow to stream.
For anyone so inclined, the song can also be bought.

Let me know what you think.
