Heard they have a new album in the works...got me worked up about them. Which album do you like better?

This is a no-brainer for me. 'Choirs of the Eye' by a mile.

The debut; very good album.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

I don't understand why you continuously post stuff like this in threads where you'd obviously be unable to contribute useful discussion...?

Oh I see now...maybe you should try Choirs.

I have only recently dabbled into these type bands and honestly they haven't appealed to me.  For Kayo Dot, I have listened to Dowsing and found it to be just OK.  Interesting that the first few posts are stating that Choirs of the Eyes is a better album.  I will need to track down and see if this is better.  Or I should take my 10 favorite CDs and run to the desert island and save my money.

You shouldn't be upset with it...it's quite the masterpiece.

Choirs Of The Eye is a good album (3 stars). I really couldn't understand DAWCT, i found a couple of interesting moments but that´s it. So i vote CoTE.

Both are fantastic but I feel a small tinge of  a formulaic approach in Choirs. I'll take DAwCT

I'll try the new one on '08... All in the interest of fairness and giving the Dot a second try...

Always good to know a progger gives a band a second chance!

Choirs of the Eye for me too. Both albums are good, but Choirs of the Eye is much better than Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue.

choirs of the eye, bar none.

although dowsing... is pretty good as well, choirs is just...better, all around to me. i think dowsing seemed like more of a developmental album with some good moments.

hoping their third elaborates on the best of both with plenty of new ideas as well!

Although I love Maudlin of the Well, I still can't get into Kayo Dot.  To me, the child-like magic that infused Maudlin's music has gone and a kind of self-conscious need to be artistic and avant-garde has taken its place.    It just leaves me cold.

I just got Choirs of the eye, hard listening, but sounds promising, a couple more runs through, and I bet I'll love it!

Havent heard the second album though.

The second is quite a bit more difficult, I'd say, so good luck! haha

Second album is sufficient if you like the first one...just not as good.

Let me know what you think about Choirs!

I haven't heard Choirs of the Eye, but Dowsing is really good. Maudlin of the Well pwns all, though.
