More as indication of what a major player and how in demand a keyboardist Jan Hammer was (and still is) - also to remind of his significant output in the jazz rock fusion field prior to Miami Vice, I give you this poll.
No room for Like Children with Jerry Goodman, who also appeared with Hammer as guests on Lenny White's Big City. Personally I believe the collaborations with Neil Schon and James Young, and the later Jan Hammer solo albums find him moved into straighter rock , prior to the electronica TV theme stuff of the 80's. Good news Hammer irregularly tours with Jeff Beck still (e.g. two UK tours since 2000), and you'll find him on the Moog Festival 2006 DVD playing with Mahavishnu Project.. ------------- The best eclectic music on the Web,8-11pm BST/GMT THURS. Hey Dick, I believe that's Inner Mounting, not Inner Mountain, but anyway that's the one I voted for. I really like the sound of the Rhodes on that album, very raw and I love the picture of him playing it with the top off. It reminds me of the 70s when you would often have to replace tines during set breaks. By the way did you ever get those original Hammond prices you were looking for? Turns out my Vail book had them all along. |

We won't "flame" you for that slip up.  Excellent list though, with the exception of Like Children I think you included his best and a few I was not familiar with. Oh Yeah has got to be my favorite from your list. (oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah!) ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Yep, that's the one for me too. Gotta love how he strapped on the mini-moog and basically invented the idea for the key-tar! Love the synth work on that album...
