Hammill without a doubt. Anyone who has ever seen one of his solo concerts will agree. I saw Hammill on stage about a dozen times, twice with VdGG, a few times with a band (K-Band, the "There Goes the Daylight" lineup) and about half a dozen times completely solo. Although his concerts with VdGG or other band line-ups were great, I was impressed most by his solo performances.
Other artists include Steve Hackett, Steve Hillage, Daevid Allen, Robert Calvert and Roman Bunka (guitar player of Embryo).

Syd Barrett, even if his music cannot really be qualify as prog, I think he made good stuff during is short but productive solo career.

Justin Timberlake. Big%20smile

...just kidding. Please don't shoot me. Tongue

Anyways...here's what I think:

Peter Gabriel
Al DiMeola
Robert Plant (not prog at all, but not bad, I don't think)

myself, of course. then there are some that are not so great but i still enjoy, such as:
peter hammill
robert fripp
jordan rudess

and Jshutt64, why would anyone shoot you for suggesting Timberlake? He's about as prog as it gets. 3 minute verse chorus songs with bland lyrics and simple music. you don't get much more progressive, unless you count soulja boy.

Considering some of the stuff I've seen listed in PA, I wouldn't be suprised if he was now prog. Tongue
