no doubt 2007 was an incredible year for prog so it was a damn difficult job picking my absolute ten favourites. Ten albums surely isn't a lot when the quality of so many releases made it a potential inclusion. However my choice has been made and you'll hear all of them in tonight's edition of On The Rocks (sunday 30th december between 8 and 11 pm cet (Brussels time) at http://www.laserradio.nl - www.laserradio.nl

be sure to tune in !

for those who missed the show in real time there's the good news that a free podcasting service is available at http://www.laserradio.nl - www.laserradio.nl under the heading Music then click on Soundbytes and you'll find the files as "Laser-OTR-30 december"

for those of you who can't wait here's the full list :

10. Alan Morse "Four o'clock and hysteria"
 9. Porcupie Tree "Fear of a blank planet"
 8. Dream Theater "Systhematic chaos"
 7. Blackfield "Blackfield II"
 6. Abigail's Ghost "Selling insincerity"
 5. Trion "Pilgrim"
 4. Flower Kings "The sum of no evil"
 3. The Pineapple Thief "What we have sown"
 2. Magic Pie "Circus of life"
 1. PHIDEAUX "Doomsday afternoon"

no doubt it was one hell of a task pulling only ten names out of the hat as I'm sure a lot more releases deserved to be here but then again when you look at the Olympics or any other event there can only be one winner of the gold medal. So congratulations to PHIDEAUX not only for their latest album but for their entire output. As for all the rest good luck in 2008 as I'm sure you're all eager to deliver yet another stunning album. Happy new year to all of you !

Can't really dispute the first position, which I think is bang on target, but am I the only one to find the following weird?

 9. Porcupine Tree "Fear of a blank planet"
 7. Blackfield "Blackfield II"
...
 6. Abigail's Ghost "Selling insincerity"

Confused

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.
