Hey guys and girls, i was wondering if you'd all take a moment of time to sign this petition. This poor Canadian fellow has a terminal illness which is being treated by drugs which are on a medical trial, and unless the drug is approved, Trevor will surely die.

It only takes a few moments to sign and with 500,000 names we could be saving a mans life

Thanks a bundle
Mikey

Please expound as to why an collection of names gathered through email would make a difference to a governmental body ?

ErmmGeez online petitions are almost always bogus, in my experience.

Sorry, but I'll wager you've been suckered.

I'm going to research this -- hang on.

Apologies, cynthiasmallet -- it seems to be genuine (links to mainstream newspaper articles, photo of boy, nothing about it on the Snopes urban legends site, etc.)

I hope you understand my initial cynicism -- one sees so much "sign/forward this"-type crapola on the web.
(Still, I don't want to send out my email address to the petition-hosting site just like that.)

I imagine real letters and paper petitions might work better -- indeed, the article I viewed mentions his schoolmates starting a letter-writing campaign.

Good luck.
