This is another band that had some early progressive influences especially Eight Miles High ( landing and title track)
All Day Watcher off Together
She Flies On Strange Wings off Seven Tears
Intro/Absurdio off Switch
Vanilla Queen - Moontan
Plus To The Hilt and Contraband in particular.

I can see they veered off the path from the 80's in a more pop/rock direction ( definitely not on live material!) but certainly believe their early material is prog related and therefore would warrant this bands inclusion. If we look at directions Queen took or even Uriah Heep to some degree, Golden Earring are similar. What say you?

thanks

I've read the former thread about this, and I'm not entirely convinced, reason being I'm not sure it ever was really progressive.

Golden Earring started as a dutch version of english beat music, and over the years basically followed in the trail of famous english (and some American) (rock) bands. in the late sixties they played psychedelic rock, early seventies they dabbled a little in prog territory, but I think it was just following the sound and style of the time and not really being progressive per se.

However the albums between 68 and 75 all have some progressive songs on them (if you want to describe it as such), mostly She Flies On Strange Wings (an eight minute single) and the album Moontan has some progressive songs (Vanilla Queen being my favourite).

even 82 album Cut has some progressive elements (ever so slightly again, but Twilight Zone is a little progressive certainly when you take The Naked Truth version)

But I think it's close enough to progressive rock in general to accept them in Prog-Related (early phase being psychedelic rock, and an adventurous style of hard rock (like a mix between J-Tull and Led Zeppelin, with psychedelic edges) in the early seventies.

I'm not entirely convinced, but I do support inclusion.

Long overdue!!

Lots of prog moves on all albums recorded between 1968 and 1977.Supersister's keyboardist Robert Stipps played with tem for awhile.Moontan was their peak, creatively and progressively.Long tracks with lots of complexity.

Bring them in!!Thumbs%20Up

Haven't heard anything beyond Moontan, but based on that excellent album i think they deserve a spot here

ST, it looks like there are lots of takers to assist, but we need approval firstSmile I am more than happy to lend a hand if we are successful.

I only know "Eight Miles High",  but from the music that I know from it  I wouldn't  include them ...   but don't ask me - probably I don't know the most important pieces.  Wink

OK, deal is done - they are already included into Prog-related category.

I continued with adding albums so we have a complete list up to Live 1977 so far.
I will continue...

Ufff, there are few double additions. I was not aware that someone else is doing albums too. Let's clean the mess before we continue.... Admin? You can now choose which addition is better :)
