Quite simply another "Top 5" poll, i don't think Opeth has ever been done before though. You know the drill.

1. Godhead's Lament
2. Ghost of Perdition
3. Moonlapse Vertigo
4. Bleak
5. When

Are we limited to one per album? If not

1. Godhead's Lament (One of my favorite songs ever, I love the "Swedish Circus From Hell" lead riffs, and it has some of their best clean vocal hooks as well)
2. Ghost Of Perdition ("Keeper of oreos... KEEPER OF ORREEEEOOOOS!")
3. Moonlapse Vertigo (Combines the melodic and aggressive elements very well, and has one of the most brutal moments Opeth have ever written)
4. Heir Apparent (Has a very "Still Life" feel to it, but combines it with their modern sound in an awesome way)
5. Face Of Melinda (My favorite "melodic" song, I adore the lyrics, and I love the way they end such a beautiful song with a heavy instrumental section. The first time I heard it I really didn't see it coming)

I'm a big Still Life fan. I feel kinda guilty only including songs from three albums, as they have so much great material on all of their albums. But since this is only a Top 5, my favorite Opeth album dominates the list.

don't know what order but

Bleak
Ghost of Perdition
The Drapery Falls
The Lotus Eater
Godhead's Lament

agreeing with Mr. Hood, the vocal hook (and the harmonized guitar that does it beforehand) make Godhead's Lament awesome

Hmm, this is very thought-provoking.

I guess my list is something like this:

When
The Moor
The Leper Affinity
Ghost of Perdition
Hessian Peel

Honorable mention to Godhead's Lament, The Baying of the Hounds, Heir Apparent, and The Lotus Eater.

Heh, I just scrolled up and realized I have the same exact list as el bothy. He has good taste!

I'm surprised no one put Blackwater Park yet Confused it has the best riff Opeth ever wrote on it.

But this is a tough one..

In no apparent order:

Blackwater Park
Face of Melinda
To Bid You Farewell
A Fair Judgement
Master's Apprentice

This however, changes a lot...

I thought about putting that one; it was hard. I'd say that's easily #6 for me. Clap

Yeah, it used to be my favorite hands down...then that acoustic part in the middle just dragged for a while, I still love it though

Interesting you should mention White Cluster and Epilogue. They are bizzarrely underated in the Opeth world, whilst White Cluster has some of Lopez's best moments and Epilogue has some astonishly good guitar.

Yeah. I like Epilogue the most of theirs, oddly. It's just...so good. I wanted to have something from Still Life in there, but can't really get into most of the middle tracks...only the beginning and ending ones strike a deafening chord with me. But that riff in White Cluster (the harmony octave riff thing) is just gruesomely good.

5 is a bit difficult. I say this with all list threads, but it's true. So as of right now, here is what comes to mind:

Ghost of Perdition
The Leper Affinity
Windowpane
The Lotus Eater
Hours of Wealth

That last one never seems to get much recognition, but I think it is one of the most beautiful songs they've done and features some ridiculously tasty and heartfelt guitar work.

One of my favourite bands Tongue

Really can't decide wich songs are my favourites but I'll try:
01: The Baying of the Honds
02: Godhead's Lament
03: The Night and the Silent Water (Live) (the mellotrons and synths of the live version make this song one of the most melancholic and beautiful expiriences of all my life)
04: The Leper Affinity
05: Serenity Painted Death (just so much BRUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Still life is one of my favourite records but I was a little bit dissapointed with watershed (thats why no watershed in my list).
There is really no band like OPETH!!!!!!! Tongue
