Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – 20 August 2008 – “Shadowman” is the second solo album from Steve Walsh and was originally released in 2005 but without the benefit of a good distribution channel. A couple years later, Steve recorded two new songs with basically the same people but they were only available digitally. Now Steve has teamed up with ProgRock Records to re-release Shadowman and include these 2 new songs as well for a new package that will be widely available.
Steve had this to say: " I'm concluding my writing career with Shadowman and the two tracks I recorded a year or two later, which are also included. It's ironic that I finally found a group of individuals that best represent my songs, at the twilight. Better late than never, I guess. I only wish I had more to record with them. It was fun. I learned that the destination is only as worthwhile as the trip you are willing to take. And that the trip is always a toss up. But this trip was way cool. My only regret is that we weren't able to record in the same room at the same time. It's hard to put into words what writing these songs meant to me. I don't think I was born to do it. But over time I was able to feel things that I blocked out for many years, hell maybe I never felt them before at all. And from time to time I listen to them, as well as Glossolalia with a bit of melancholy, remembering the whole process, and all the memories of excitement whenever I'd get tracks from the guys to add to my sequences. There's not much I can add to what I've already said, except to thank those responsible once again. Joe from Twisted Sister on drums, and Joel from Collective Soul on bass and guitar, and Shawn-who mixed Shadowman. I haven't had the opportunity to say anything about him yet but Jim did a great job on mixing the bonus tracks, and Dave from Kansas on violin topped it off. I’m grateful to Shawn Gordon and ProgRock Records for giving Shadowman and the new tracks an opportunity to be more widely heard and available.".

“Wow, what can I say, Kansas was the first rock band that I liked, they were the soundtrack to my early high school years, getting to work with Steve is just an amazing opportunity and delight for me.”, said Shawn Gordon, President of ProgRock Records.

”Shadowman” is the ProgRock Records debut release from Steve Walsh and can be found at http://www.progrockrecords.com/artists/view.php?id=103. The album will be released in early September 2008 and is available for immediate pre-sale with a $2 discount extending through the pre-sale period. It will be available at your favorite brick and mortar retailer on November 4, 2008.

Have you heard the other two songs that the release talks about?  They are pretty good as well.  It is very cool that Shawn picked this up and added those two songs to it.  I have it all but would like the CD package so I will probably pick it up at Calprog in October as Shawn has a booth there every year.

On the other side it is very sad that Steve is not going to write any more material.

Yea, I hope Steve is just going through an artistic drought and changes his mind, he does some great stuff and his voice is really in good shape these days.

Ok, this is my 1st post, so I don't know the story (if there is one). Does anyone know why Steve would say he is thru writing?

Tried to "nab" it a few times on Ebay but was always outbid by a country mile .Means it's in demand - no ? Always thought the "Streets" stuff was killer - especially the KBFH disc.Smile
