Subject: A Rational Diet during October Equus

Recently we have been spoiled  with two brilliant works of two of today's best avant-rock groups, Rational Diet from Belarus with their album At Work, out on Altr0ck (home  to the magnificent band Yugen who is soon releasing their new one as well) and the Spanish band October Equus who release Charybdis on RAIG (home to numerous avant and experimental bands).

Two fantastic pieces of work, both very much improving and progressing from their previous releases.
Both on my  2008 top albums "list".

Any prefence?

Not really a serious poll, like always; more a means to spread the word about these two new fabulous pieces of work.

Rational Diet.

More varied/fun to my ears. (Interesting aside: Like their debut a bit more at this point though). Both still need more listens.

Good poll idea! Thumbs Up

I don't have either of these albums, but really like the earlier albums by these bands (and the new material I have heard).  And I'm sure the upcoming Yugen album will be terrific .

Incidentally, here are the myspace pages:

And Yugen since it was mentioned:

Terrific bands.

I go for the Spanish band's sophomore album: OCTOBER EQUUS manages to give a jazzy (almost Canterurish) twist to the framework of RIO.

Same here - I think I prefer rational diet so far, but I'll wait to hear the new albums before I vote.

The new Rational Diet is simply awesome; great musicianship, love the musical ideas and their execution, the variety of the tracks... Such a delight to listen to.
Highly recommended!

I very much expect that this would be my favourite album of theirs.  The myspace tracks are absolutely wonderful.  For me as a chamber music guy, I just love it.
