Pop In Opposition? lOLOLOLOCTOPUS....anyways.....Awesome music.  I really like Ca Va, even though it's less avant-garde than their previous attempts. Discuss.

I haven't heard any Slapp Happy outside their collaborations with Henry Cow, one of those things I've meaning to check out but never got around to it.

Casablanca Moon is a very quirky and sophisticated pop album that is definitely worth a listen. Not RIO at all but very rewarding. Their two Henry Cow collaborations are amazing though, most notably In Praise of Learning, which we all know and love. Haven't heard their other albums, unfortunately..

I have Desperate Straights by Slapp Happy & Henry Cow. What can you tell me about it? (haven't listened yet)

It's a fun, quirky album which sounds more like Slapp Happy than HC (whereas their other collaboration, In Praise of Learning, is really more of a proper Henry Cow record).  Actually not too bad of an introduction to Dagmar Krause's vocal style if you've never heard her before.

Henry Cow light. Shorter, more accessible songs, but with plenty of charming quirkyness. One toe dipped in pop, one dipped in RIO.

I like Slapp Happy a lot.  My favourites are the collaborations with Henry Cow: In Praise of Learning and Desperate Straights.  "Some Questions About Hats" is one of my absolute favourite short songs (very thought-provoking hatological notions, and reminds me of Monty Python ;)).

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001589/ - Exec #2 : Yeah, I've had a team working on this over the past few weeks, and what we've come up with can be reduced to two fundamental concepts. One: People aren't wearing enough hats. Two: Matter is energy. In the universe there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this "soul" does not exist ab initio as orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into existence by a process of guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001402/ - Exec #3 : What was that about hats again?
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001589/ - Exec #2 : Oh, Uh... people aren't wearing enough.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001037/ - Exec #1 : Is this true?
Exec #4: Certainly. Hat sales have increased but not pari passu, as our research...
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001402/ - Exec #3 : [Interrupting] "Not wearing enough"? enough for what purpose?
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001385/ - Exec #5 : Can I just ask, with reference to your second point, when you say souls don't develop because people become distracted...

I only have Casablanca Moon, and yeah is the poppiest side of RIO-avant-garde, and very symphatic, there are even a couple of danceable songs.
