PRR hooked me, I'm on the can't wait list.  Although Victorious Cupid was released for free last year, so no need to wait for that.

I bought this album on a whim, and boy, I was pleasantly surprised.

The Dark Third was so amazing on the first listen, but has had a pretty steady decrease since then. I'll still be checking this out though. No crazy expectations from me.

I've got a stamp for 1 free cd at the local cd-store. This is what I've been saving it for for 6 months now. Sadly I can't get it from them until 13th or 14, that is, if they've got it by then.

Meh... I guess I'll be down to listen but I'm not buying it... the first one was pleasant enough but it's nothing outstanding imo.

Probably not surprising since this is somewhat progressive pop, but I am in the column of PAers who really enjoyed The Dark Third.  It had quite a bit of wow factor for me, so I am looking forward to this new release too.

I bought The Dark Third for a dollar.  Turned out to be quite a find.  Thumbs Up

I understand they've had some major lineup shifts since then.  Suppose that will affect their sound?

I hear the new album is much more electronic. Very few guitar riffs.

^Yes. It's basically electro-rock with some three part harmonies and extended song lengths.

I love The Dark Third. I still love it. It started to have a decrease as in Pat's case, but over the past couple of months I've been rockin' it a lot lately and it's as good as it's ever been (especially tracks 6-8). This new stuff is pretty darn weak, though. It's not terrible, but I'm getting nothing out of it. This new Superball label seems to be watering down great bands (The Amber Light and this one so far). I really hope Oceansize's new album maintains their high standards.

pity if they changed their sound so soon after the excellent dark third..why on earth would they do that when their hard edged floyd tinged formula has worked so well so far..so if the new album is indeed weaker and more electro..then it is a pity..will have to wait and see...

Sweet! I loved "The Dark Third" but I hated "Victorious Cupid" when I listened to it on their myspace, so we'll see...

Seems to have been a long time coming this one, but i'll be interested to hear it. I loved The Dark Third but I'm put off rushing out to buy this one with all the talk of a more electronic approach.

update: heard few songs from the new album..and indeed it is more electro and less guitars..disappointing..vocal harmonies still there..melodies not bad and it is not dark third!!!

^ Progression: only good when not progressing away from progressive rock.

I like it. :) But I tend to like things electro, so I'm not really surprised. It's good to hear that they're experimenting with their sound.

Well I'm back.

The concert was dreadful, though if you like your live music at unbearably loud volumes this is the one for you. It was just too loud for me, and that is saying something. Two acts preceded PRR and I had to go out into the entrance bar to get some relief - and this is with ear defenders in!! I should have realised something was amiss during the first act when I could feel my jeans waffing against my leg with the pressure waves - or maybe I should have shaved my legs beforehand?? Anyway it was just horrible - talk about not seeing the wood for the trees, I couldn't hear the music for the volume.

And then PRR came on and had their own soundie - and he was mailto:louder!!!@@*&$ - louder!!!@@"*&$ . Sorry PRR but one minute into the second number I left. I couldn't tell what the first piece was. I got the CD of the new album so I'll listen to it sometime in the future when I have recovered - hope the sound engineer is different to the concerts engineer. So all in all a pretty naff evening, good job I hadn't travelled far and the entrance fee was reasonable, so all I lost was an evening.

Hope the volume isn't as high if anyone else is going to see them.

Final score 0.5/10 for turning up.

Must be a venue issue Rob.

I saw them at the Arts Centre in Norwich last friday and the sound levels were just fine.

They were bloody excellent although I have to say I'm finding it very hard to enjoy AVO. Confused

^ Must have been. Fired off an e-mail of complaint to them as well. Never going back there again. Just shows how good the Classic Rock Society are at arranging concerts. Definitely go there again. I'm calming down a bit now so I might listen to AVO sooner rather than later.

Seeing as the primary PRR thread is closed. I'll use this one.

Massive PRR fan. TDT is obcourse their best release so far. Amir Vincit Omnia is still great, but not quite as good.

Have we had any info on their 3rd release/album? I can't find any info on it whatsoever.

Amir Vincit Omnia was a solid record. Some good ideas and the usual quality in the performance, but nothing really special to my ears. I rather prefer the previus one.
