Dear Friends,

My wonderful wife's niece, Amber, has been missing since Friday.  She is only 14. I know many of you do not reside in California or some not even in the USA but if you could pass this along to your contacts maybe someone somewhere might know something.

Here are two web sites with more information about Amber.

Thank you in advance. Any prayers you might have would be gratefully accepted as well.
If any of you have received this in a form of an email we apologize for the duplication.  Just trying to reach as many people as possible.

My best wishes for her to be found safe and sound.

Had a very similar situation at hand that was resolved only a week and a half ago; but in that case drugs were involved so the worrying had a completely different character to it than what you must be going through right now.

My prayers and best wishes for a quick and undramatic resolution to the case in hand for you.

Hi all just a quick report. I was down at her parents house yesterday and really have nothing new to report. There was a student at the middle school who said she saw Amber walking on the grounds of the middle school on Sunday and police searched the neighborhoods surrounding it but nothing turned up. The problem with the holiday weekend meant these leads were all two days old when they were reported. The student didn't know Amber had been reported missing and only heard about it yesterday. Using dogs and such was wiped out due the 2 inches of rain the area received over Monday and Tuesday. You can find links now to the news updates on her website here (they are at the bottom) They have as much info as the family does and they post it fairly quickly.:

Thanks for your continued support.  It is very much appreciated.

Here is everything i know at this point.

The nature of the search is to eliminate things. They still list Amber as an endangered runaway. Until they change that status the FBI will monitor but not directly get involved. They thought from the few leads they had that she was in a certain area. They have determined she is not in that area and are calling off the search. They also have eliminated the parents and the mothers live in boyfriend as suspects. They all took and passed lie detector tests. They are searching all the computers in hopes Amber may have left an online clue. Her cellphone was used before she left the house on Friday to text her grandmother and one friend. None of the texts were suspicious. She turned her cell phone off after the last text. It was turned on briefly on Saturday for a few seconds and someone tried to unsuccessfully access the voicemail. It was turned off and has not been turned on since. (This is the main reason the police thought she was still in the area. The ping they got narrowed it to 5 mile radius. It wasn't on long enough to get an exact location. It could have been her because her mother had changed the password on the voicemail trying to determine if she had listened to any)

The local poilice are looking to organize other searches in the foothills around the city. It is at this point they need to change it to possible kidnapping instead of runaway to escalate this to another level. That is what we are waiting for. Everyone in the family has known all along this was an abduction because this is just not like Amber at all.
http://www.amberleeannedubois.com/ - www.amberleeannedubois.com
Please continue to forward this to your contacts and ask them to do the same.  It is encouraging to note that Amber's site has had almost 30,000 hits in just 5 days. This hasn't even been broken by the national news yet either.  The more people that see this then the better chance somone who knows something can come forward.
Thanks for your continued effort and support. The whole family thanks you.

Finnforest any little bit all adds up Thanks so much.  Micky thanks prayers are needed just as much.

Her is a little bit about Amber I want to share:

She had perfect attendance in school and was proud of that. She isn't a wild girl at all. No drinking, no drugs no boys. She loves to read, she loves science and is totally infatuated with wolves. She prefers to draw and write does not have a myspace or facebook page and has a core tight group of 6 friends that hang out all the time usually at Amber's house. On the day she went missing she had a check to the FFA agriculture class made out to he school to purchase a lamb. (Amber wants to go into field that deals with animals.) That check has not shown up at the bank. She did not have a spare set of clothes and even her cash was still in its place. This girl is no runaway.

Thanks Tony and Jean and Friede too.  You just never know who someone might know who knows something. At this point if Amber were abducted she could be anywhere. So we are just trying to raise the awareness everywhere.  National media has been slow comming around. Lots of local TV and Press though and her website now has almost 35,000 hits.

Stacy and I are just about ready to leave to join a volunteer search in the foothills and mountains surrounding the town for any kind of clue. I think we are going to very tired tonight.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Posted By: Garion81

I thouight I would share this with all of you:

Note: This was read at the candlelight vigil by a close, longtime family friend:

One of the most frustrating things about Amber’s disappearance is the helplessness that we all feel about wanting to help, so much, and not knowing what to do.

Well, I believe that there is a very simple answer to that very HUGE problem.

The answer is to pray for Amber and her family.

A lot.

They do not care if you pray in a Church, a Temple, a Mosque, a forest, or on a mountaintop. Or, in some of all the thousand ways that humans connect with their creator or their source. You don’t even have to call it prayer. They do not care if you believe in God, like Amber does, or how you spell the God you do believe in.

I believe that the positive energy and Love that you create and project will bring comfort to Amber and her family.

I have a quick story to tell.  My sister Kristin prays every day; she told me that she always includes a special prayer for our now 98-year-old Grandmother who lives in York, Pennsylvania.
She prays to God that Grandma Jean gets what she prays for. She always says, “Because she loves you God, so much”. Kristin never mentioned this to anyone before, but she told me because when she called Gram one day, Grandma thanked her for her prayers saying that she feels them all the time.

So, however you are comfortable praying, the way that any individual can help in a very real way is to take the time to visualize Amber back home with her family. Actually try to picture her in your mind, sitting comfortably in a chair at home, reading a book with her loving family around her.

You don’t have to know her well, or at all.  But if you do, you may want to picture her ignoring her unfolded laundry around her too.

Just take the time to think of Amber and smile, and you may find that it brings you some comfort as well.

Joe Peters

Thanks Eric.  That means a lot. to the family and it is very encouraging about humans in general.  It is very interesting and comforting  to see that such a horrible situation as this can bring out the best in others.

To all of you, posters and lurkers to this thread,  thanks for your continued interest, support, good thoughts and prayers.  I understand Nancy Grace's show on CNN will have segments on Amber. I know last night and tonight's show for sure will have them.

The more good thoughts directed her way is what is needed.  As the speaker at the vigil said this is something we can all do.  Picture her in your mind safely at home reading a book with her loving family surrounding her.

When you see that picture of Amber opening up her Christmas present that was taken at our house on Christmas Eve. It is very surreal seeing it on a national TV show.

Check out Nancy's Graces show on CNN tonight at 10 Eastern 7 Pacific. She was on last night and there is a video from the show on Nancy's website:

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/nancy.grace/ -

When you see that picture of Amber opening up her Christmas present that was taken at our house on Christmas Eve. It is very surreal seeing it on a national TV show.

was going to watch this Brian however I checked the listing here and on the CNN site...  her show isn't on tonight Question... not out here on East Coast at least.  We get AC 360 at 10pm here.

I looked at this, it's heart breaking to see her father, looking quite shattered.

Who is this Nancy Grace by the way? What's special about her show or is it just that she decided to pick this issue? (sorry for going off-topic, you can disregard if you like).

This is from Nancy's website:

About Nancy Grace

"Nancy Grace" is television's only justice themed/interview/debate show, designed for those interested in the breaking crime news of the day. Grace challenges guests on the most high-profile legal issues of the day by drawing on her unique perspective as a former violent crimes prosecutor and as a crime victim herself. Nancy Grace provides viewers with a clear understanding of not only the top crime stories, but also the cases often overlooked.

Been lurking on this thread and, having a daughter who is not that much older,  I have been reluctant to post because I both can and cannot imagine the worry.  My prayers are with you and your family.

I saw the AMW show tonight too and am still thinking of this family every day.  I've never met Amber but from these profiles, wow, what a sweet kid, enjoys animals and novels they said.  Hang in there Brian and family, lots of people pulling for you!!

I wish I had good news.

Well we handed out, posted or asked merchants in the are to display her poster. 19,000 went out. and not one real clue yet. 17 days today and it gets tougher and tougher to hope she is OK.

I saw the father yesterday. He hadn't slept in three days. His friend had taken him to the ER that morning and he was treated for sever depression. Most of the rest of the immediate family is taking tranquilizers just to cope. Stacy broke down big time last night. Thanks for the support and prayers they are needed. Make sure to include the family as they are wearing very thin.

Now to the b*****ds that keep taking the flyers down!

Sorry that there is no good news about this at the moment. I can't believe people are like that when it comes to the flyers.

I know this is easy for me to say, but as long as her status is unknown, there is hope. Please, hold on to it.

A different situation but comparably harrowing for the family, I guess - in 1989 a man was hit by a train in a town some sixty kilometers from where I live. He lay in a coma... until 2007, when he woke up. His family had to endure eighteen years of struggle for hope, but it paid off. So you see, things can and do turn out for the best when you least expect them to.

Just saying you think of us is enough.  Thank you for taking time to respond.   If you look back  a few pages (Page 3) you will see a post from Stacy (my better3/4 and Ambers blood Aunt) using my log on and read what she thinks of all of you who took the time to read or respond.  You are all much appreciated.  I also come here to talk music sometimes and escape a little.
I feel bad because I haven't been listening to music much. Stacy in order to calm her nerves has us on a three cd diet. Izz's I Move (mostly for the song Light From Your Eyes) Paul Bremer's Womb Song and The Two Towers Soundtrack (btw all excellent CDs). So you know what?  You can all listen for me (us).  One song that comes to mind is Kansas The Wall.  Pretty much comes up the situation right now. Karn Evil 9, Tarkus are others that run through my head. So my mind is not calm. I am asking for your help.

Think of Amber and look at her pictures.  Think of her riding her horse or believing she was a wolf (her favorite animal her room is full of statues and pics them) or a teen vampire  (yes very into that book Twilight) and then tell me a song that describes her to yourself.  Smile

Of course prayers and good thoughts are always accepted.

The police released this today.  Although it really isn't new (they knew about this the first weekend) it has more details than I have been privy too. We always thought somone involved in the Farm area etither as a teacher, volunteer or delivery knows something:

Witnesses Spotted Missing Teen Near Farmyard Driveway

There's new information in the case of missing Escondido teenager Amber Dubois. Two parents who saw Amber walking to school on the day she disappeared tell the News 8 CrimeFighters she was last seen near the entrance to the school's farmyard.

David Wahlquist drives along North Broadway almost every morning to drop off his son and daughter at Escondido High School. It's the same route 14-year-old Amber Dubois used.

"I see her almost every day walking to school, so I recognize her by sight," Wahlquist said.

On Feb. 13, David remembers seeing Amber walking two blocks from the school around 7:10 a.m. - a full 20 minutes before the first bell.

"In fact, I remember thinking oh, she's a little bit early," he said.

The total distance of the route Amber takes from her home to the location of the school is less than a mile, north on Paradise Street, West on Vista Avenue and finally South on Broadway walking toward the school. It was here where two parents in different cars reported seeing Amber walking on the west side of the street.

"She was kind of jogging when I saw her and I thought she just looked like she was in a hurry," Wahlquist said.

The location is right next to a driveway that leads past a school bus maintenance yard and down to the school's livestock farmyard. Amber was excited about getting a new lamb as part of the Future Farmers of America program.

Multiple surveillance cameras monitor the farmyard, and the principal says that students, volunteers and teachers frequently stop by before school. Police have looked at that surveillance tape, but so far, nothing.

"There is that possibility that she went in that direction. Reports are she was seen around that driveway. It's a possibility, but it's not showing up on the video," Escondido Police Lt. Craig Carter said.

Police say the surveillance tape is grainy, making it difficult to positively identify any student.

Another possible lead - Amber may have been walking with an unidentified male student about six feet tall with a dark complexion.

"We think that there's a piece of that puzzle that the kids can offer us that we're not getting, so we're really encouraging the kids at Escondido High School and the kids in front of the high school to give us a call with whatever they think might be pertinent," Lt. Carter said.

One classmate told police he may have seen Amber on Grand Avenue near Palomar Hospital. There was another sighting near Rincon Avenue and Conway, but those sightings are unconfirmed, and it's been 17 days since Amber disappeared.

"It's hard to think what it would be like to know where your daughter is," Wahlquist said.

The witnesses say there were a lot of students walking to school on North Broadway that morning. If you were there and you remember seeing Amber, call Escondido police. You can remain anonymous.
