While I could just as easily vote for Hemispheres, I'm going to be the rogue and be the only person to vote for Vapor Trails.

I'll go against the grain here, and vote for Counterparts, in my view an almost perfect album. As I have stated on various occasions here, I am not a very big fan of their Seventies output, while I love most of their Nineties and later albums (and quite a lot of their Eighties releases too).

I went with the easy pick and chose Moving Pictures, but I really don't have a favorite or least favorite Rush album, since I like them all in their own ways. I was tempted to go with one of the live albums just because they have the most quantity of Rush songs.

Very tough. At different times it has been grace under pressure, moving pictures, hemispheres, power windows, signals. i'll have to revisit them to say which i enjoy most now.

It's a tough choice between A Farewell To Kings and Permanent Waves. I've recently purchased Presto and Roll The Bones and while I wouldn't put them up among their best, I found them to be surprisingly good despite what I've heard about them.

Moving Pictures still. First Rush album I ever bought and holds a special place in my heart.

2112 and Caress of Steel are currently my fave Rush albums, but since there's no votes for 2112, I'll vote for that.

Exactly my stance on this. Hemispheres is my favorite album of all time!

I'm going with "A Show of Hands" for mostly sentimental reasons. The first concert that I went to without the parental units was on this tour. When the live CD came out, I ran out to get it, it was still one of the first couple of CD's that I had ever purchased (all tapes before that).
To this day, it remains a great sounding concerts with many of my favorite Rush songs: Subdivisions, Red Sector A, Time Stand Still, Cinderella Man . . . I could go on. There are a few of my favorite songs missing, but this is still a pretty good representation of the era and a fond memory for me.

This is a really tough poll. I could name anything before Vapour Trails for purely sentimental reasons, but I will go on current listening taste, and go for Grace Under Pressure, which I regard as a hugely underrated album. It just beats Moving Pictures, which was my first Rush album, and still sounds as good now as it did then.

Hemispheres but not just for the sentimental reason that it was my first Rush album, but for the fact it is the best and most balanced of them all. Moving Pictures comes second for me - I'm suprised to see Hemispheres matching it vote for vote. After that, it's hard for me to say which, but I do like Grace Under Pressure, Permanent Waves, and Hold Your Fire a lot. My least favorite is easy - Vapor Trails.

I don't listen to Rush much in recent years. But I did have a brief and personal little re-listen party about a month ago. I'd say I enjoyed Perm most on re-listen. And when I think about it, I might be able to say that that album was my favorite back in the day too, if only because I would figure out and play all the guitar parts (that I could manage anyway).

Why must my spell-checker continually underline the word "prog"?

1) Permanent Waves 2) Hemispheres 3) Moving Pictures 4) Signals 5) Vapor Trails (too bad its production is so weak, I guess that's why is criminally underrated)

2nd would have to be either 2112 or Rush...I actually really like their debut, Finding my Way and Take a Friend are just fun.. but Working Man is way overplayed

Anything from Farewell to Pictures would do. Pictures it is this time. They were pretty unbeatable from 2112 to Grace Under Pressure and did many good albums after them as well.

That's way to much to really make a choice from that considers all of the important factors, so I'll just base it on which one I played the grooves off of and listened to the most times. It's A Farewell To Kings.

This is made easy for me by the inclusion of the live albums.
It simply has to be Exit Stage Left. A brilliant tracklist, fantastic production and for me the band were at their absolute peak on this. The versions of La Villa Strangiato, Jacob's Ladder and YYZ are amazing. To be honest I'm shocked it has no other votes.
If I was pushed to vote for a studio album, it would have to be Moving Pictures. The Camera Eye and Witchhunt are just brilliant.

Where's the love for 2112? I'm suprised by the fact that it only has 7 votes. My top 5:

My number 1 is a tie of five prestigious alba: 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Grace Under Pressure....I don't know what all the fuzz around Moving Pictures is about: it's a decent album, but that's it.
I'm voting: Hemispheres - just to create a distance between that one and Moving Pictures, seeying that I can't choose one of the five mentioned above.

A Farewell to Kings! It has my favourite Rush song, Cygnus, and only song that's a bit weak, Madrigal. That one fits perfectly in it's spot though, and it isn't bad.
