Persephone's Dream will be premiering works from their upcoming 5th CD "PAN'S LABYRINTH" at the 3 Rivers Progressive Rock Festival on August 9, 2009!   The album is due out sometime in September.   PAN'S LABYRINTH is a concept piece that will encompass the entire CD wherein the Greek god Pan is the central character.  The music takes an aggressive progressive turn from their past works, and is a tribute to the progressive rock of the 1970's.   Shocked

Is there any relation to the 2006 Guillermo del Toro film, Pan's Labyrinth?

Hi!

No, the name has nothing to do with the movie.  The idea for the piece started over two years ago at first as a song about a musical duel between the god Apollo and the god Pan.   Then, as the band tossed around ideas, we decided that the music would quickly change into different "rooms" or change direction not giving the listener a clue ahead of time where it was going.   At that time we also had planned that it would explore the different stories attributed to Pan's life.   We couldn't think of a name for the piece, and were milling over words like maze, puzzle, etc., but when the movie came out we were like there, that's the word we were looking for!    It's now become much bigger than the basic idea that we had originally envisioned, more like a story similar to  Genesis'  The Lamb.   It has a definite storyline, and a message.
