I hope 'Power and the Glory' gets a re-release.  You need a king's ransom to buy this on Amazon at the moment.  It's more scarce than return-journey kamikazee pilots.

I've found it to be the hardest of the Classic GG to get, still don't have it. Cry

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

It is sold absolutely nowhere in the Netherlands. I've searched for quite a while with no relusts. The thing is that it's the only GG album I really like (I know that from listening to the songs on Youtube), which makes it even more frustrating.

According to the press release (as reproduced on the official site):

"More Gentle Giant music will be available in a variety of formats in 2010, starting with the January release of the seven CDs Re-Mastered from the original 1" inch tapes through Hi-Resolution (24bit 96k) transfer. First quarter of 2010 will also find box sets and Limited Edition Vinyl LPs."

So I'd hold on to your hard-earned cash for the time being. Wink

The box sets makes the whole thing very expensive... especially if they mean to publish vynil box sets as Genesis done recently...
Pardon me for my egnorance, but what is the exact difference between these remasters and recently remastered album such as Glass house and TPTG?

^ Whats all that about? In a Glas House available - we know this and we know its excellent

Anyway the remastered "Free Hand" Is worth grabbing apart from anything else. i dont think a remastered'Octopus' would change the fact that it is disappointing GG

These new remasters are AWESOME.  I was gifted with a few of the 35th anniversary remasters a few years back.  I always though the In a Glass House remaster was terrible.  Lots of humming and buzzing (especially at the beginning of Experience).  These new remasters are crystal clear.  I'm probably going to slowly replace the 35th anniv. cd's with these.

I agree about the 35th anniversary remaster of In A Glass House. I did wonder if it was even from the original master tape.

I have no idea what the source tape was, but I agree about how absolutely dreadful it is. That painful listen kept me away from Gentle Giant for quite a while. Then I found The Power and the Glory and Playing the Fool on vinyl Smile

It would be nice if they are reissued with the original cover art. I never liked the octopus in the jar as compared to the Roger Dean cover for Octopus.

Weirdly, I always preferred the US cover. Anyway, the remasters in question are only spanning from IAGH to GFAD (I think) due to legal rights and whatnot. However, I'm pretty sure the most recent Octopus remaster has the Dean artwork...

The 2010 remaster of In A Glass House is so much better ,crisper and more dynamic sounding although there is still some audible hiss at times but not such that its spoils the listening. Now I can listen to this properly.

My vinyl copy was the octopus in the jar and the cover was cut to the outline of the jar. Big smile  Not sure if it survived the flood.  Still have to inventory the surviving LPs.
