Unquestionably my favorite Gentle Giant album, The Power and the Glory is a wonderful concept album about the cycle authority and rebellion, one which is especially relevant to American politics, particularly with respect to our highest office.
(Boy, that read like a college thesis statement)
If you are interested, http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=191356 - here is my review of the album, which I feel is one of my best reviews (it was so much fun dissecting the music on this one).
So which song is your favorite?
I have included the title track, which was not a part of the original album, just for the hail of it.

Playing the game.
Other standout tracks are Proclamation and Valedictory. Overrated album...

I can see Playing the Game winning this easily, I have also got a soft spot for the much maligned by the band title track . A Glass House poll might be really tough though

Not for me.
"The Runaway" would easily take my vote.
And I of course voted for the horse currently in the lead, which will never ever lose...

I'm voting for "The Face." "Proclamation" is up there too.

Good on you! The Face is one of those GG tracks which rarely gets a proper mention despite being a stonking good song, IMO. Having said that, I went for Proclamation.
Playing the Game will almost certainly top this poll, but I don't know why. In some ways that track really outstays its welcome (Kerry's awesome hammond solo notwithstanding).
Lastly, I would like to be a pedant and point out that the so-called "title track" was in fact nothing of the kind as it never appeared on the album in question. It was simply a last-minute attempt at a single recorded to promote the LP which has, unsurprisingly, ended up as a bonus track on most reissues of the album.

Proclamation, followed closely by Cogs in Cogs. This is definitely one of my favourite GG albums, too.

Great album. I went with the opening song. It's really hard to go against any of the songs on it.

It has to be Proclamation.

Proclamation
Some bloody fantastic keyboard work right there from Mr Minnear.

It was between Proclamation and Cogs in Cogs, and since CiC had fewer votes I gave it mine.

"Proclamation," "Playing the Game," "No God's a Man," and "The Face" jump out as the best from this album. Upon closer inspection "Playing the Game" is the first to be eliminated. The remaining three are pretty mcuh equal but "No God's a Man" has no votes so my vote goes to it.
------------- Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal.

I voted for Playing The Game, but I think it was that keyboard work in that song that really made me fall for the band.

No mention of the beautiful "Aspirations" yet, I'll give it my vote but Proclamation and Playing the Game are pretty much tied with it as my favorite.

I agree that this is GG's best album. And their best song is So Sincere.

Great album! Any song on side one could win it for me, but I'll go with Proclamation, for it's weirdly funky riff, and dramatic mid section. Honorable mention to Aspirations, one of the prettiest melodies I've ever heard.

Oy.
Favorite album by GG ( ) myself. Really hard to choose. I have to give a vote to So Sincere though. Proclamation or The Face should also get votes for me, as well as a honorable mention vote to Aspirations just for being so damned cool.

I finally heard this great album for the first time this past week and I'm really starting to enjoy it all of the way through, however "The Face" sticks out to me as a possible favorite and almost a tie with "Cogs in Cogs". "The Face" gets the vote, though this will probably change!

This was hard for me because I love the whole album! For me it was a toss up between Playing the Game and Proclamation, but Playing the Game came out on top.

Cogs in Cogs for sure; it blends all of GG's trademark sounds and styles into one 3-minute insane yet glorious roller-coaster of sound. Also, a live performance of this song I found on Youtube a while back got me into this band in the first place.
And since I feel like bragging, i found a MIDI version on a fan site and using a certain computer program, learned to play along on the guitar I played it for my girlfriend and it sorta blew her mind (despite her abhorrence for much of progressive rock).
