It's been a long run, obviously. It's not like I really got to know anybody or really contributed anything meaningful, so who cares? I don't, you don't, that's fine. I know "screw you guys, I'm goin' home" threads are juvenile, but this is absurd, in the short period of time I've been here I've been censored twice: - I started a thread discussing mental ill musicians. Not in any degrading sort of way, in fact to the contrary, all the musicians I listed I had a tremendous amount of respect for. Nor was I implying mental illness creates fantastic musicians. It was just a discussion. It was shut down, aparently some people flagged it because, "It might be considered insensitive."  - Recently, in the "Black Musicians" thread, which I frankly though was absurd. It's a black child yelling, "THAT'S RACIST!" It was mostly a joke, even though I think the thread could have been considered by some to be racist, which I find ironic. Why this image was "pending approval" from mods is beyond me. So, my question: Who mods this place? Tipper Gore? I know this thread will be deleted before anyone can see it, but LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!!!! I'm not saying let "teh intarwebz" take over: Porn, profanity, etc. But I don't want to participate in a forum where G rated might be considered offensive. How progressive of you. I'll definitely continue to use this site, as it is awesome, but the forums... I'm done. Thank you all for making me feel less insane knowing there are more people out there who like prog, but... Don't annoy us further! We have our work to do Just think about the average What use have they for you? I don't think it is a good reason to quit the forums for. You win some,
you lose some, if the mods close/delete something, it is just in the
best interest of the entire forum, but they aren't infallible. I guess
what I'm saying is, There is no use in crying over spilt milk. Personally, I don't want you to leave. |

I appreciate the comments, you guys seem like an awesome group of folks (obviously with awesome taste in music). But I don't think I could have a lot of fun here if I have to constantly think "Would this offend anybody?" Especially when I am being what would be widely regarded as non-offensive. So though I am continuing to contribute to this thread, that's pretty much it for me in the forum realm of things. Oh God, this is the worst type of post on the internet. Yes, I think it was excessive to lock the mentally ill musicians thread since nobody had actually said anything terrible yet (even if it was a bit insensitive for you imply that mental illness is linked with creative music), but if you can't stand the occasional run-in with a mod over something you say, just leave. Being dramatic and telling everyone that you're leaving so you can garner sympathy from people doesn't help anybody. Also, just posting an ironic .gif is a pretty terrible post that doesn't contribute to the discussion in any way. Of course, lots of other people make worthless posts and they're not deleted for the sake of readability, but that's not the point! ;-) And nice job on preemptively accusing the mods of censoring this thread because you're speaking truth to power, man. I'd like to see you run a forum? As for the Black Musicians thread I created: the picture that is pending approval would have offended me, because it's just not necessary. No, really, it isn't. And it would have span the thread into a big ol' racism discussion, and NOBODY wants that. So just think about your post a second. And yeah. See ya. Dude, I used to get censored all the time... I just posted afterwards going... "wow, they actually censored me saying, (rephrased version of what I said at first)... now that's just silly." :P Yeah I wish we could say graphic, offensive things to describe how much The Mars Volta sucks too, but this site is simply too "constructive" for that. This ain't some metal forum. We're here to discuss the music and all that... Anyway man, see you around. After you of course tell us that your post wasn't serious in the first place and you just wanted a reaction so now you'll continue to post some more.

When posting or creating threads on an International website it is obvious one should use their common sense, you never know who is checking the site and could take legal action against improper posts - picking subjects such as mental illness, especially naming certain people, or racism, is asking for trouble....if i was a mod i would have sent warnings

What's not racism, but common reality for me may not be appropriate for let's say more multi-racial countries like UK, or USA. I got censored for this once, but I learned what I did wrong. In fact nothing in criteria of my country. And it's not barbaric country you know, we're pretty civilized ;-) But this is not some Czech pub, where I'm with friends, feel to offend hip-hop music as much as I want, because I know my pals won't complain. Otherwise, they'll support me. But we're INTER-NATIONAL here. Therefore, I completely understand mods. There are simply some topics that are HOT. And what's hot may overgrow to form FLAME. For example WAR. And so we should agree them. How long I'm here, almost a year ? And I've been censored once.
