Most people classify these guys as comedy rock, but they have a lot of proto-prog gems, such as "We Are Normal," which i'd post if the link thing wasn't working.

Anyone else agree?Smile

Certainly. Their output is a bit uneven but the very fine music ( I think Neil Innes was the main composer ?) is often overlooked because of the humour. As brilliant as Python often were, they ripped off the Bonzos shamelessly on occasion.

Hunting Tigers Out in India, Death Cab For Cutie, Intro-Outro, Hello Mabel, Humanoid Boogie, Ali Baba's Camel are all quite brilliant. Viv Stanshall's subsequent solo career is notoriously patchy by check out Teddy Boyd Don't Knit for an example of the Bonzo spirit still shining hard.

I believe they were also suggested for addition (I know Ivan was a strong proponent), but don't know what happened next. Anyway, there should be some thread around the Suggest New Bands section.
