Ensemble SuperMusique is a Québécois avant-gardiste band with renowed local avant musicians like Joane Hétu, Diane Labrosse and Danielle Roger, all ancient members of Wondeur Brass/Justine/Les Poules. Danielle Roger also played with Fred Frith on a couple of albums. Another member of ESM is Jean Derome, the famous saxophonist who played in Conventum and Les Granules, notably. They released two albums, Canevas «+» (2004) and Y'a du bruit dans ma cabane (2008). They're on the Ambiances Magnétiques Label. Of the samples available, I like Impro2 from the first disc and Canot-camping, courte expédition most so far. Seems like a pretty cool band to me.

Yes, Ensemble SuperMusique rocks. They really have their own way of writing improvised music! ;-) To get things straight though, Jean Derome is not the famous guitarist from Conventum and Les Granules. He is the famous reed player from Conventum and Les Granules. The famous guitarist you are refering to is René Lussier. IN 2008, Jean was celebrating the 25th anniversary of Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville with 2 new works forhis augmented band, Les Dangereux Zhoms. Afraid I would vote no, or Prog Related maybe. Its really not avant prog to me, avant-garde yes, but there has to be a rock influence for PA inclusion.
