Scheherazade is one of the first Japanese prog-rock band featuring Toshio Egawa on keyboards, who later became a real prog-rock star in bands Novela and especialy Gerard.
Band was created on second part of 1970' however due to many circumstances they weren't abe to record any album until 1992 when re-created "Scheherazade" (with Toshio Egawa who just left Novela) recorded their only studio, self-titled album. Their style is very similar to Novela (especially "very special" vocal delivery...) - neo-progressive rock with symphonic licks (lots of digitial synths but also splendid Hammond runs the most evident in more than 17 minutes Suite "Lights are burning" and some hard rock/metal influences in shorter tracks.

Line-up:

Hisakatsu Igarashi Vocals
Hideaki Indou Drums
Terutsugu Hirayama Guitars

Iutaro Ohkubo
Bass
Toshio Egawa Keyboards

No samples nowhere?

I'll alert the Neo-Prog Team.

Sorry, no samples found :-/. I can only assure you that it's very good album in the vain of other Japanese band - Novela.

I have alerted the Neo team. I presume there are samples to be found on YouTube, but I didn't check for that myself as I usually do because for the moment I am connected via a very, very slow mobile connection (still waiting for my broadband connection to be relocated to my new home).

Any decision about this one? It's 100% prog so I suppose it's just a problem to fit it to particular genre. Am I right?

Though it was also considered for Heavy Prog, and turned down there, looks like it was accepted into Neo-Prog even if not an ideal fit.

To expedite matters, would you be willing to prepare the addition? Then you could PM the bio/ band pic to a Neo-Prog team member (might want to PM Windhawk about it). If that paragraph in your post describing the band was written by you, then the bio is pretty much done anyway.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Yes, this description was written by me. You can use it as band's bio. If it's too short I can look for some more info in Internet (but it's not easy, 'cos not too much info about them anywhere Dead )

"After a lightning collaboration with FROMAGE, Toshio Egawa joined the same year SCHEHERAZADE, whose line-up also included the henceforth famous Terutsugu Hirayama (guitars, ex-KICADOMEI, future TERU'S SYMPHONIA), Jutoro Okubo (bass, future STARLESS), Hideaki Indo (drums, future PAGEANT) and Hisakatsu Igarashi (vocals, future PUZZLE). After having given many successful gigs, this excellent quintet made the decision to unite in 1979 with Yoshiro Takahashi (bass), Ejiro Akita (drums) and Motoslugu Yamane (guitars) of the group SANAKUIKAN.
This capital event earn marked the birth of the worldwide famous heavy-prog band NOVELA."

Their second one is a Japanese only production - best of luck in hunting it down.
