According to Planet Rock:

Quote Roger Waters has announced a handful of shows in London and Manchester as part of his Wall Live world tour – it will be the first time in 20 years that the Wall has been performed in Europe.

Roger Waters’ The Wall will trek through over 25 European cities in 2011 to mark the 30th anniversary of the album’s release and Roger has hinted that this could mark his final big tour.

Rogers band on this world tour is: Dave Kilminster (Guitar), Snowy White (Guitar), G. E. Smith (Guitar), Jon Carin (Keyboards), Harry Waters (Keyboards), Graham Broad (Drums), Robbie Wyckoff, Jon Joyce (Backing Vocals), Michael Lennon (Backing Vocals), Mark Lennon (Backing Vocals), Kipp Lennon (Backing Vocals).

To date The Wall has been performed by its creator just 31 times live, including Pink Floyd's 1980-81 tour in support of the album. Roger Waters resurrected the show in July 1990 with one of the largest concerts ever held to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall. That event attracted nearly half a million fans to the Potsdamer Platz while millions more around the world watched the extravaganza on television.

"Projection systems now are completely different from what they were then, which means that I would be able to project over the entire 240-foot expanse of the wall ... which we couldn't do in those days," says Roger.

"When we first did it, we were after the end of the Vietnam War, and we're right now in the middle of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, so there's a very powerful anti-war message in The Wall. There was then and there still is now.

"This new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years," he adds.

Here are the UK dates for The Wall Live

MAY 2011

Wednesday 11 - The O2 Arena, London
Thursday 12 - The O2 Arena, London
Tuesday 17 - The O2 Arena, London
Friday 20 - Manchester MEN Arena
Saturday 21 - Manchester MEN Arena

Tickets not on sale yet, but I'd predict you may start to save lots.

If reasonable though, I'll be there!

It's funny how only the pigs and the dogs can afford to go to his gigs.

Not wishing to be a wet blanket, but yet again the perception of an artist is that gigs in London and Manchester consitute a "UK" tour.

The Wall is my least favorite Pink Floyd album, yet I saw it live in 1980 and will be going to see Mr. Rogers perform it in Denver this November. I guess that says a lot about my tolerance for bad music! LOL

He probably doesn't have the energy to give off the brutality needed for the album.

I absolutely agree with you, Bob - both are a long trek for me in West Wales, and expensive at that, especially as the tickets are not exactly going to be cheap. There are plenty of venues around the whole of the UK where this show could be performed.

I'll probably end up going, if only to compare it to the originals I saw in Earls Court, but it will be under a slight sense of protest.

He's coming to Finland too, let's see if I can afford it... Extremely interested anyway even though The Wall is average Floyd for me.

agreed and it's gotten much worse in recent years before 2007 any band would at a minimum do all the big cities like Birmingham and further south but now if you want too see a band at home you'd better have a way of getting too the 02 arena

I'd love to see another Roger Waters show. I saw him during his In the Flesh - Live tour and it was definitely one of my top 5 favorite show experiences that I've seen so far. Thumbs Up

These days, London & Manchester is a tour - most usually you're lookiong at one high profile gig to get as many bums on seats as possible then sod off for another year or so... (coughIronMaidencough)

Fingers crossed hoping to get tickets for one of the O2 gigs

I saw Waters do DSOTM at the Birmingam NEC and it was superb. I actually prefer The Wall and have seen it done in full (and extremely well) by The Australian Pink Floyd.

Two years ago David Gilmour asked "only" for 70 to 150€ at the Auditorium in Rome....

@Hawkwise: your animated gif is very nice. It's like when I look back to my vinyls. I recognize all these pictures....it makes me feel at home.

If that's the case, we won't bother. Two tickets (three if my son is interested), travel, and hotel in London. For that, we could get a cheap holiday abroad. Shame.

I was right - £75 + £9.25 'service charge'

However...

I was there at Earls Court on the original tour in 1980; one of the most spectacular shows I've ever seen; the blurb states all the effects have been updated, digital projections, full 360 degree quadrophonic PA system...

Vicky and I are going

Another thing which convinced me is there is a rumour this will be Waters's last tour (correct or not, the guy's nearly 67 so...).

My thought is this could be the last of the large scale progressive rock stage shows ever, so we bit the bullet & went for tickets.
