Definitely between Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, History of The World Part I and Spaceballs for me... Don't know if I even like one better than the other... Robin Hood: Men In Tights is up there too.

Blazing Saddles has a slight edge over Spaceballs for me, I guess, but it's all good

No! He told us to comb the desert so we're combing it!

Young Frankenstein, with Blazing Saddles a close second (although Blazing Saddles is one of the most quotable movies evar).

nothing ever came close to The Producers, though I'm a big YF fan .. after High Anxiety his films really went downhill (could it be because Wilder wrote much of the better Brooks screenplays anyway ?)

Young Frakenstein, even though The Producers and Blazing Saddles are some of the greatest comedies ever too.  Spaceballs was one of his weaker films.

Change that.  Now.

If I could change it I would, I've never had the chance to see any of them, so I have not. LOL

The only one I haven't seen is Silent Movie, because it was so widely unavailable for a while.

Hmmm so hard!
The producers, history of the world, spaceballs, blazing saddles...bah! They are all so good.
Have to go with spaceballs because it was the first  I saw.

Between Spaceballs and Men in Tights.

I'll give one to Men in Tights because I know it'll get less.

If you have enough time on your hands to post on a forum that you haven't seen any Mel Brooks movies than you have enough time to see a Mel Brooks movie.

My vote goes to Young Frankenstein.

Apart from Get Smart (The best sitcom ever) created by Mel Brooks,

I have to vote for Young Frankenstein.

Definitely Young Frankenstein. One of the funniest movies ever and Brooks' most consistent from beginning to end. I think the producers is a close second. Both Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs have their moments, but are not consistently funny.

Without Blazing Saddles none of the others would exist including the popularity of the Producers.  You also forgot one called the 12 Chairs.

naw, it's probably just because I haven't seen The Producers or Young Frankenstein.  I was not a fan of Blazing Saddles, that's for sure

I voted for History of The World, Part I.  I feel its pretty underrated.

The end of Blazing Saddles gets a little annoying.  I feel like they should've left some parts out.  Maybe Spaceballs too, but I still love both... I really gotta see The Producers though.  I've only seen the play.  No Gene Wilder in the play... heheh

How's 12 Chairs?

Well, while I laughed at parts, it was not as funny as I was expecting it to be. Young Frankenstein SEEMS funnier to me, but I watched it as a child, and maybe that's the only reason why.

^ Maybe it was because you didn't see it at a drive in with some beers and other kinds of stuff  carammed into a car with 4 other guys.  Wink
Pretty funny stuff.

Brooks was one of my favorite directors once. Now I think I overrated him. I only like Silent Movie and Young Frankenstein, with some good moments in Spaceballs... Some decent jokes here and there in Dracula and in History of the World, and utter boredom in Robin Hood and the others. Especially the atrocious Blazing Saddles, one of the worst 10 films I've ever seen.

All I can say that if you can't tolerate silly, you won't get into Mel.  I see Blazing Saddles has fallen behind Young Frankenstein, so I went for that.  I have to put both at the top with Spaceballs third.  What a terrible thing to lose one's mind.  Mel's has been long gone for a long time. LOL

Blazing Saddles, followed by YT and the Producers. I actually like Spaceballs less and less as time goes on. It just seemed so hollow and cheesy, compared to his 70's output. Men in Tights was neat, though.

Blazing Saddles
Spaceballs
The Producers
Robin Hood - Men In Tights
History of the World
Young Frankenstein
High Anxiety
The Twelve Chairs
Silent Movie
Life Stinks
Dracula - Dead and Loving It

In that order.. I think.. LOL

Hands down one of the funniest directors along with the Monty Python and the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker gang

!

1.- Young Frankenstein
2.- To Be or Not To Be (He played 5 characters but didn't direct it )
3.- Silent Movie
4.- History of The World, Part I
5.- Dracula: Dead And Loving It
6.- High Anxiety
6.- Blazing Saddles

Can't stand 5 minutes of Spaceballs or Robin Hood, both are terrible IMHO.

Voted for Young Frankenstein as it contains a section with Gene Hackman (as the violin playing blind hermit) which is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. For me Mel Brooks produced great comedy up to High Anxiety and thereafter descended into puerile opportunism.

My wife got me a box set of 8 a while back.  No Spaceballs or Dracula in it.  I just finished  The 12 Chairs.  I think dreadful is the best description.  I'm giving History a spin.

I'm afraid I agree, some of his later flicks are painful-- and I wonder how many realize Gene Wilder wrote much if not most of Young Frankenstein, though Mel Brooks seemed determined to obscure that.  Seems Brooks was a man starved for good material and when the good ideas ran out, he just kept producing.   The other Sid Caesar 'Writers Room' clan seemed not to have that problem; Neil Simon, Woody Allen, Larry Gelbart.

Hmmm, I can't choose between Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. I'll give it to Young Frankenstein because it has lower votes than Blazing.
