Is anyone here listening to Mastodon? Although it's not progressive rock, Leviathan, their most recent CD has strong influences, and has been compared to Rush and Metallica. They have a real jazzy, yet very heavy approach. The drumming is some of the best I have ever heard. Those interested in prog - epics should enjoy the 13 minute epic Hearts Alive. The albums closer is a unique, mostly acoustic instrumental dirge called Joseph Merrick (I think this is a mistake though - the elephant man's name was John Merrick). I have been listening to this CD almost non stop in the six weeks since I got it.

I think a good name for a band would be Prophylactica

I don't know what this download festival is, but they will be at Ozzfest this year. I'll be going to the July 17th show at Nissan Pavillion. I'm really looking forward to it, as I have never seen Mastodon before, or even attended Ozzfest. There will be some other good bands playing, like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, In Flames, Soilwork, Arch Enemy and others.

How these guys aren't here I have no clue. Dailor is a phenomenal drummer.

AMAZING band. I wish my drumming was even close to as good as him.

meh, try Lethargy, Brann Dailor's first band, much better IMO, a lot more technical as well for those who care about such things,
