I never liked the Selling England cover. Somehow it is depressing and without any real interest. Even a bit claustrophobic.
Foxtrot and Nursery are ugly covers but they are certainly interesting.
The Lamb is a superb cover, A great work of art.
Trespass and Wind & Wuthering are nice and pretty.
The first album is OK but is this the cover it was first released in or a CD version?
Trick of the Tale is amusing,
The others belong to a group that shouldn't be in prog archives.

I like the drawings of Paul Whitehead. That means: Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot. I like most of the other covers as well. Really 'ugly' is none of them. Maybe From Genesis to Revelation. Nothing to see on it...

A Trick of the Tail has always been my favorite Genesis album cover. The Lamb comes a close second, followed by WAW and ATTWT.
Abacab, Duke and Invisible Touch are all pretty lame. Very 80's, lazy art 'less is more' kind of thing, which as a style is fine, but some thought needs to go into it. Doesn't appeal to me.
------------- Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Nah, sorry Snowie and Moogtron, I cant agree. The concept of the Duke cover is nice enough; the lonely man staring out of the open window at the stars etc, but I don't like the way it's presented. Such a damn fine album deserves a better cover I reckon..

Yes, it is!
It's artistic, innovative.
I like the simple colour palette, minimal and playful.

I think I like A Trick of the Tail the best. Invisible Touch is just hideous, I think that's easily the worst.
I'm going to buck the trend on a couple. Wind & Wuthering's cover is one I've never liked even though it's one of my two or three favorite albums of theirs. It's so melancholy-feeling that for years it negatively affected my opinion of the music inside, and I was only relatively recently able to give the album a fair shake and discover that I really like it. On the other hand, I like the clean, iconic look of Calling All Stations very much.
Not a huge fan of the Whitehead covers, and I think each was weaker than its predecessor.

I was thinking about this and now that you mentioned Invisible Touch, I can put that at the top of the list. I'll give the Lamb LP package top ranking. Very weird. As I recall, Abacab was released with three different color schemes, so if you don't like that one it is possible you got hold of the wrong copy.
------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
