I'm afraid to put near 20 minute songs, because Dogs is my favorite song of all time. Also, I think #9 will win on this one, just from what I hear the PA say about it.

Probably 6 Degrees, Octavarium, or Thick as a Brick. I'm not really a DT fanboy but those are really well-constructed pieces, though I have a hard time thinking of 6 Degrees as a whole, cohesive piece.

I only own it on Score. So.... yeah. But thinking about it, since I did that, I could put every concept album ever written on here. So... lets just pretend it's one 40 minute song.

So far, seems like I'm always running with the crowd, so Supper's Ready--Genesis' best work. .... BUT, just barely. In a very very close second would be Gates of Delirium. I think Octavarium and Echoes would tie for 3rd.

Thick As a Brick, no question. Echoes a very close second, and I like a lot of the others too.
f**k me Supper's Ready is overrated though. It's decent, but not particularly good and certainly not deserving of the praise it gets. Much like the rest of Genesis. Selling England is a good album, that's about it.

My genuine favourite is something from this album, by the way:
 4.30 | 27 ratings | 9 reviews | 63% 5 stars
Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music
|
Studio Album, released in 1971
Songs / Tracks Listing
LP Original release (Sides A-D)
A 1. P.F. 1972 (22:00) B 2. Suita po tisíc a jednej noci (22:33) C 3. Piesne z kolovratku (17:53) D 4. Eufónia (20:06)
Total Time: 82:32 ---------------------------
|
Probably A or B. C isn´t over 20 minutes and D is´t in fact Euphony, but rather Cacophony.

I do not vote Genesis because I'm proggie, I became proggie because I like Genesis. So I vote Genesis because I like them and not because I'm proggie. Supper's Ready is superb and far better than almost all (or maybe all) the others 20+ minutes tracks I`ve listened.

I'd usually take Echoes based on the studio versions, however if the Yesshows version of Gates is considered that would sway things in that direction. That is truly awesome.

Have you heard the Gates version from Yes Symphonic live DVD?, that's just awsome. And then theres Gilmour's version of Echoes from "Remember that Night", more powerful and the solos better played (though the comeback to music after the screaming guitars is still better on the original version). If you haven't heard this versions then you must get them (oh, by the way, both are available on CD too).

Zeuhl
The genre is a mixture of musical genres like Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Modernism and Fusion. Common elements: oppressive or discipline-conveying feel, marching themes, throbbing bass, an ethereal piano or Rhodes piano, and brass instruments.
Lyrics sung in a non-existent language, mixture of genres, powerful brass....doesn't it apply to Atom Heart Mother ?
Of course I'm joking, but it's a thought that crossed my mind when I woke up this morning....

Atom Heart Mother with marching rhythms and disciplined feel? Hehe
Ron Geesin did say he should have moved the bar lines over by one beat to make sure the orchestration would be on the same page as the Floyd. But he did it all... bar by bar. On the score that is, not on a pub crawl...
Yep, made me laugh. I had been just re-reading some comments from RW and DG about how they thought it was so awful.
Thankfully I like Zeuhl and Atom Heart Mother.
